My Pillion Ride with 3 x Aussie SBK Champ Shaun Giles

I did post this photo in another thread but many may not have seen it. It occured at the last asbk round of the year at the best track in the world - Phillip Island.
I was as excited as hell before the ride, I was hoping that I'd get to go last but I was first up of three on the day, the others were Lyn Tainton, Phil's wife
and one of the doctors from Suzuki Racesafe that had an MA competition licience.
Anyway, Big Guy and Evro (Blade Boy) were there to watch it all as well, only problem was it wasa bit windy.
Gilesy heads for one warm up lap, the bike is the full factory (asbk spec) superbike Josh Waters started the 09 season on, he went on to be crowned Superbike Champ at the last round. Anyway the bike is straight off warmers and Gilesy is out and warming up. I even had to have a medical before the ride. So i'm kitted up and ready to go, first lap was spent getting used to how hard and late he brakes and where he gets on the gas, lap 2 was fucking brilliant but over all to quick. 3 more laps would have been fantastic but time did not permit, 2 laps is the longest ride I have seen at these rounds and the people on Sunday didnt even get a run down the straight at full noise. Big Guy and Evro told me he was clearly going a hell of a lot harder with me on the back, I think the only thing slowing him down was the wind. Still, Gilesy's ability to steer the bike with the front whell not on the ground and the wind pushing in the wrong direction was totaling amazing - seriously I just sat there and watched in amazement. Everything seems to happen in slow motion - as opposed to when I'm at the controls
If anyone, & I mean anyone, gets the chance to do one of these ride jump at it, you realise why they are winning Aussie titles and we are watching - seriously they are on another planet.
