Considering a trip to the island for MotoGP

I am considering riding down to the island for the race on Sunday.
Seeking advice on where to hang out on the day... Do general admission areas have any good viewing spots? Is it worth upgrading to a more premium ticket if attending just for the day?

Hook up with the other Vics going - they can point you in the right direction

If you have never been before then you will love it....You are part of it.
Leave home in Reservoir (?) about 7 and head south. The closer to the island you get the more the tension builds and so to the amount of bikes around you.
General admission around the track will give you a heap of viewing areas. MG, Siberia, turn 12, Turn 2, Turn 3.....
Besides its all about the immersion into the atmosphere of the event.
You will never forget the feel beneath your feet when 10 000 bikes start up at the end of the day for the ride home....

Thanks man. I have never been before. And I am hoping for a great day. Is it advisable to wear non leather gear to ensure a comfortable day? Or is there storage areas?

Vivek, I'm going down on Sunday and Marty indicated a couple of weeks ago that he might come along. I'll contact you later in the week. I'd be happy to travel down with you and show you the ropes. One of my mates who was coming, now can't make it and my young bloke is doing the Round The Bay In A Day lycra thing, so if Marty doesn't come I'm flying solo.
Bike parking is generally in a big paddock adjacent to the track and about $10. You should try and bring a piece of timber or such like to put under the side stand, so that your bike is still upright at the end of the day. I'd say the paddocks will be a bit soft with all the recent rain.
Entry for the day is $95 and you can buy the ticket at the track. They take credit cards.
Personally I think the area around Bass Strait & Siberia are amongst the best viewing spots (and you can wave to the KSRC flock over at Turn 1).
The only better option, was when I used to get Corporate tickets, that provided food and pit access, but the drawback was sitting in a stand on the main straight. Still, there were giant screens to see the action.
..and at the end of the day, (as Slow & Wobbly said) when everyone fires up to head home, fantastic!!
Cheers
Joe

We have had a shed load of rain down here

And its raining right now ,

. The car/bike parking areas will be very very soft . Forecast isn't looking great ....

But that can change .
Best fun for Sunday will be watching girlies ditz around wearing high heels

Yeah the waether outlook is not looking the best but that is just the island for u......uge chance of it been wet all week/end and then come race time it dryes up quicker then a nuns nasty for so great racing. Another wet race and hopefully it is another incentive to move the race to earlier in the year (say weekend after F1).
The ride home is great - i have done it in the car but great to see heaps of bikes and the township of cranbourne love it. ........ best u get just gen admin if ur only doing sunday .....grandstand cost 280 (and their aint much left of that) .....im on the bass strait corner (turn 3ish) ...... dunno bout places to store stuff,
