There may (or may not) be some truth in this, and knowing Vic Pol I would be surprised if it isn't true to be honest but a heads up anyway.
Hi there,
A friend of mine overheard a group of Phillip Island residents complaining
about the police setting up this w/end 6 x roadworthy stations between Sanremo
and Cowes to get all those who got thru last time.

What happens if you're from interstate and get done for not being roadworthy in victoria?

ACT police used to do this at the border for those attending summernats. Anything that looked modified was targeted for inspection.

Tim, not 100% sure but I would think if the vehicle is found unroadwrthy (depending how bad it is) they probably slap a canary on it till it is fixed.

What will they be looking to target on my Toyota Kluger? Maybe the mudflaps I've cut short? My aftermarket exhaust? My lack of rego label?

Of course. It looks soooo much better, and slows me down incredibly when the full sized flaps are on.

Maybe try the back way through to Cowes. Don't go the main road, go via the Newhaven-Rhyll Road, get on to the Cowes-Rhyll Road, Coghlan Road, Settlement Road, Dunsmore, Church and then you're in Cowes....

Nope they wont let anything go if the way they acted at the superslast year is an idication,i had a couple of ,lets say chats with them.Especially the one who stopped a car then seen me so waved on the car and jumped into the middle of the road forcing me to take dangerous evasive action. He questioned me and i questioned him back
