Census question 54
How many registered vehicles at your residence?
DOES NOT INCLUDE MOTORCYCLES!!!!! WTF?!?!?
Guess the government is all about ignoring motorcyclists.

I spat it at that question, and wrote a message about it. If enough bikers do this, it will be noticed.
It may not be fixed - but they will know we are pissed off

Here is the feedback I left
"I am disappointed there were no questions or references to the number of, or type of registered Motorcycles parked or garaged at each address.
As petrol and cost of transport increase, Motorcylcles will become more importnt and relevant to Government Planning"
Cheers
Rusty

And this is the reply I got to my query...
Problem description
I don't own a car; why is my motorcycle, which is my only means of transport, not recognised as a legitimate mode of transport to be registered at my address?
Dear David,
It is a vehicle registered with a State/Territory Motor Vehicle Registry for legal travel on public roads. For the purpose of the Census Motorbikes and Motor Scooters are excluded due to the large non response rate, with the question not answered for 4.5 million households in the 2001 Census. During the public consultation phase for the 2006 Census, no submissions were received in relation to the garaging or parking of motor cycles and motor scooters and the 2011 Census is a no change Census.

I've always drawn a box below the "Motor Vehicles" box, written " Motorcycles" and put a number in the box....

And what exactly are you pissed off about? They didn't ask about my mountain bike either, or my skateboard, or the bus that my son takes to school.
Do you know the basis for them asking this question? Perhaps they consider that motorcycles impact on the road congestion is not a factor.

What a crock...
If they are not included next time then I will leave the number of cars blank as well and then if enough people do this they will drop the question altogether.

Was anything else changed?
I can understand that reasoning (if true) for this census but if enough people complain then we may be able to get it included in the next one.
I think that making a note on the form, while it may relieve some tension, will have little effect as these will be processed by numbed minds who will ignore anything other than the answers to the asked questions.
Part of my 'feedback' was that if it's important to record the number of cars then why not the number of motorcycles.
