Greetings from Canada, new guy with a question. I'm struggling getting the carbs off an '87 GPX750 do any of you have any tips on getting these out? I need to clean and rebuild them, I could also use some specs if anyone has them on hand.

Great forum you have here. I find AU forums to be well above those in the US, especially for the older machines.

:D

Looks like your all sorted... but I will add one thing, if the GPX is the same as the GPZ.....
Ensure you put the hose clamps on the rubber boots, back the same way they came off... ie so the screwdriver is in the same position as when you removed them....
I didn't do this on my old GPZ about 20 years ago and I still have the scars  who would have thought that a thread on a hose clamp would give you full throttle when you start her up

They came off last night without any issues. I'm going to rebuild them, if you have any advice please share. Thank you again.

Just something from when I did this with my old GPX...getting them off is one thing, putting them back on quite another. The rubber boots get all old and brittle and found it hard to ever put them back completey onto the carbs without a lot of swearing and a few scars from screw drivers slipping!

warm the boots in hot water was a piece of advice I got...worked somewhat...but you just have to be patient :-)

Good luck!

A pair of tire levers and over sized flat-head screwdrivers are mighty handy. Undo the airbox, slip it as far back as you can and use one screwdriver to hold it from rotating up or down and lever the carbs out on one side and then the other and they should pop out.

Getting them back is a similar process, but it is a right bitch to do it as you need to keep the carbs level when you try forcing them back in.
