Was just wondering in the infinite wisdom on here if it is possible to get a calcium based grease in australia?....

I spent the day on the phone to almost every Lube supplier mobile, castrol, fuchs etc to no avail....Except mobil telling me I can get it from Egypt or the US  .....What I'm after is Mobilplex 44 or the equivilent...

Also what is the difference from using a calcium based grease to say lithium :? ....

Surely something with calcium in it would only serve to stiffen up your joints :D

Is for a gearbox on a 45 degree aggregate saw on a CNC machine for stone cutting....We had some issue's with the tool making noise and under the italian techy's advice pulled the box down to check it out only to see that all is well and now can't source the lubricant here in Aus to refill the box  ....

Spoke to a few "lube technician's" from a few major companies and all were reluctant to say that "X" product is equivalent....

Is a 10k aggregate so just don't want to chuck anything in it just yet before I exhaust all avenue's....

On a side note is it possible to import oil/grease from america or is it classed as a hazardous substance in case I have to go down that road....

Spoke to my father in law whom works in import/export. He is going to look it up when he's at work tomorrow, but has a hunch it's likely going to be classed as hazardous. I'm sure he'll give enough of a clue as to what's needed if it turns out a few hoops have to be jumped through.

Just a suggestion, if you end up having to import it, might as well get two and have some spare "in case". Especially if it doesn't increase the cost of transport too much.

I checked with the local supplier in Salt lake and they don't have it in stock but can order it. Mobilplex44 or 47 or there is a shell brand as well. The problem remains shipping to Australia. As previously stated this may be considered hazardous material. My local shipper is still closed but I will call them and ask how much it is to ship, if it can be shipped. Too early for Jim but coffee does the trick. Good luck and I will post as soon as I find the shipping info.

The only way the United States Postal service will ship petrleum based products is by truck and they offer no sea shipping, in otherwords no shipping by airplane. The same story is basically what United Parcel Service said. Shell oil has a similar product, you might check with your shell oil dealer. Sorry.

Italian Techy.......saw on a CNC machine.....is it by any chance a Ficep? We run Ficep gear for our steel processing. If so our techo here will probably know what you can use.

It will be classed as Hazardous Goods and will need to be seafreighted if you don't want massive costs. (You can airfreight oils, but it requires specialised staff and equip and is Exxie. But for AOG they do it. )
