Stoner's alternate reality
Written by CMG Staff on Wednesday, 06 April 2011
If you read report Larry Tate’s MotoGP race report this week, you’ll remember that Casey Stoner criticised race marshals for neglecting to give him a push to restart his bike after colliding with Valentino Rossi, who lost the front end and crashed just ahead of Stoner.
The Australian was miffed because he felt Valentino Rossi was given preferential treatment after he got a push and went on to race, while he claimed he was left to dry, having to attempt to start his bike on his own.
Well, this amateur video shot by a fan in the stands tells a slightly different story. In it, we see Rossi getting barely a nudge from the marshals (indicating that his bike probably didn’t stall in the crash), and several marshals pushing Stoner, one of them staying with him until they're out of view of the camera.
Maybe Stoner takes Mythbuster Adam Savage’s motto, “I reject your reality and substitute my own” too literally.
The Australian had cut the engine on his RC212V, to avoid any damage from the bike running on its side. But the Honda's fancy gearbox requires two pins to be inserted in the clutch to allow the engine to be started. It is possible to bumpstart the engine without these pins, but it is extremely difficult.

Watched it twice and you cant tell crap from the angle.. watching the live broadcast you can clearly see they favour Rossi..
The marshalls clearly push Stoner after he has his hissy fit, and long after Rossi is on his way.
I wouldnt expect anything else from CMG Staff..
but its done.. bring on the next show down

I believe in this case, it might be you with the alternative reality!!
Your posts I normally read with interest. But this one perplexes me??? I am not a parochial Australian. I actually respect Rossi's ability and his achievements and like him as a personality. But, in this situation, regardless of where they come from, the facts are that the marshalls favoured Rossi. The reason for that may well have been that they knew they were not going to get Stoner's bike started again...maybe....maybe not, but they looked after Rossi First. They were closer to Stoner and ran to Rossi. It was blatantly obvious.
This shows why Stoner was able to get better results on the Duck than Rossi has..........it's called ability!!!

Can't stand Stoner, wish he was left standing in the gravel trap at every race - just like he used to

Genuine question - What makes you so strong in your opinion?
I don't take much notice of what they say, what others say or whether they are gay or not. The talk is just that...talk.
I enjoy watching the racing to see the skills these guys have. The aliens are all great riders.
I think that in this race Casey was riding at a pace that he considered gave him the best chance to have a strong finish. He seems so relaxed with his bike this year that he does not need to push so hard in the early laps.
Compare his performance in his first year with Ducati...way ahead of where Rossi is now. During the last couple of years he still won races and was able to push that bike so hard to do so. Burgess said that Rossi is not prepared to ride at that level and none of Casey's team mates have got anywhere near him in the championship.

Perhaps it's a lack of motivation.
Of which is the best motivator?

All you can't stand is the media persona designed by them. You may feel differently if you knew him. I don't "Know" him, but I did have several interactions with him at various race meetings when he was an up and coming kid. He is one of the nicest guys you could meet. Humble doesn't begin to describe him. But, please, allow your ignorance and prejudice to influence your decision. I will maintain an open mind if that's OK with you.

Of course that's ok with me, like I give a shit. I don't like him just like anyone has the right to dislike another rider, or any sportsman. Deal with it
