So I had a fair to moderate day at work and was making my way home at approx 12:30am. I had gotten most of the way home and was just making my way around the little volcano we live on when all of a sudden I was greeted by what I would desribe as a medium to large grey kangaroo.

Chaos ensued.

I was in a sixty zone and saw him coming from my right side. I hit the brakes but would have been lucky to maybe be doing about forty when we kissed. He took the front of the bike with him kicking me into something of a highside. I was clear enough for the bike to just land on my right foot and then after that I rolled over backwards.

There are houses on that right side where he came from so he must have been enjoying some nice lawn from someones nature strip. While we're discussing these houses...I.... (the bike) landed with a massive crack. Even I know the bang must've echoed over the hills. Thanks to all of you MUTHFARKAS that thought it must've been more worthwhile to not pay attention. Special thanks to the prick in the ute who drove past after I got my bike back on its feet (still facing the opposite direction that it should have been) and while I was still sitting on the side of the road recovering.

If I was thinking straight at the time I would have jotted down your rego and made sure I came over for a little chat. :x

Brand new Shark helmet.........rat shit
Aldi textile pants (2009?) not a mark, still good
Aldi winter gloves (same vintage) not a mark, still good
Aldi tourer boot (same vintage) left boot fine, right boot fubar.
Dri rider climate control.......couple of scuffs and little rips, still good

Rider, sore right foot. very minor elbow and hip grazing, other than that I'll be waiting to see how I pull up tomorrow.

Bike yet to be thoroughly inspected. Right side is toast. Right rearset broke. Front brake lever broke. ducktail looks ok but I think thats mainly because the exhaust valiantly jumped in the way. Insurance? Not for this (enquiries pending), but with luck the gear might still be covered. Photo's to come tomorrow.

If your worried about the roo, I have no idea where the bastard went.

Bugga mate, good thing you seem to be ok and dont end up worse this morning, the bike hopefully can be fixed.

The helmet and boot appears to have taken the brunt so your gear worked as it should.

Bugger mate as others have said your gear did it's job and thats what it's for. Hope you pull up ok over the next few days.

Unfortunately even if you could identify the guilty party (roo) the insurance co will still require you to pay the excess. I hitr one in the car a while back and it wasn't worth going the insurance way as it impacts on your insurance even if you have a protected no claim bonus as they up the premium because you have had a collision claim.
