mingled with the stars at the UK premiere of TT3D: Closer to the Edge in London last night – and joined them in showering the film with praise.
Race team boss Clive Padgett spoke for everyone in declaring the film ‘A brilliant record of the TT and hopefully a huge boost for motorcycling generally.’ An exit poll of MCN readers confirmed a unanimous five-star verdict from motorcyclists.
Stars of the feature-length documentary Ian Hutchinson, John McGuinness, Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop and Conor Cummins were interviewed by Murray Walker in front of an engrossed audience, before watching the film screened in 3D for the first time. “I thought it was brilliantly done” Hutchinson – left leg still caged after a horror short-circuit crash soon after his unprecedented five TT wins – told MCN.
This in spite of the film focusing largely on bitter rival Guy Martin, whose campaign is traced from truck yard to Nobles hospital via a week of scintillating on-bike bravado and off-bike petulance and side-splitting patter.
Director Richard de Aragues told MCN winning over legendary F1 pundit and bike-worshipper Walker was his proudest achievement. “He’s said before no film or documentary could capture the TT – but after seeing it he told me ‘You’ve done it – that’s the TT in a bottle’”. Praise indeed from a man who told the crowd the TT was “pinnacle of world motorsport of any kind”.
TT3D screens in 70 cinemas nationwide from 20 April. More info on screenings from here www.tt3dmovie.com

Village Cinemas advised that they have a tentative release date of 25th August.
Not likely to be shown at the major complexes though.

True, but I reckon that'd be awesome in 3D - and that's from someone who hates wearing those damn glasses
