Well........the time came

I picked myself up a new Shoei XR1100 helmet the other day. Ever since the weather has been horrible until today so I thought I would give it a try out. There is only 1decent road out here so off I go. Everything is going great, helmet feels awesome, much more stable than my old Shoei TZ-R. About half way along the road there is a culvert in a gully and there is 2 inches of water across the road. No problem I think. I slow down to 5kph and creep across the culvert and in the last metre *bam* front of the bike goes sideways, right knee slams into the concrete and I'm on my back. Bike is a little beat up, scratches all down the right, broken mirror stem, new pazzo levers ground down and 2 1mm stone chips on the back of the helmet (didn't even get 10Km out of it) but it's still servicable (no impact just grazed the concrete).
Best of all...........as I pick up the bike I look across and there are about 6 blokes and kids having a swim in the rock pool.............damn.
Oh well. Time to think about a re-paint and plan how I want the bike.
Chalk up the first, if very weak, crash.
Damn it!!

What a donkey fuck mate! I have an opinion that new gear, helmet, boots, gloves or leathers often cause crashes. More proof!
Glad it's only minor cosmetic and some grazed pride rather than a w/o and an ambulance ride. At least it's happened now and you can just get on with riding.

Doh, as plenty said to me on my minor bin, chalk it up to experience, and if the worst out of the crash was minor and cosmetic it's about as close to a good crash as you can have.

Thanks guys. Got stuck in after work today and she is stripped of all fairings. Now to decide what to do. Either fit a new panel and belly pan and re-paint in a satin black with yellow high lights or replace all fairing in solar yellow?? Decisions, decisions..........

Chris, Check out OEM prices at a Kwaka dealer. You may be surprised at the cost of new panels as opposed to repairing, colour matching and painting etc the scratched ones

What would I be looking at for OEM fairings?? I found some aftermarket fairing from America for around $875 delivered. Looking at either black or solar yellow.

I replaced one panel on my Gumby in 2009. I think it was around $300 from the dealer and the colour match was spot on.
I guess you would need to factor in how many panels need replacing. Any more than 1 or 2 and you may well be on the right track replacing the lot...

Pulled everything apart last night. Looks like I need a new belly pan (fairly screwed up when I bought it) and a R/H mid fairing. Even if I did buy OEM I would need the other panels painted to match (most panel a badly faded from previous owner leaving it in direct sunlight) and matching a Yellow metalic pearl is impossible at best.
So it is either:
1. Buy 2nd hand panel and repaint
2. Buy OEM panel and still re-paint
3. Go aftermarket and maybe only do tank and seat cowel for change of colour/mismatch colour

Buy OEM dude, I would have thought you could bring up the paint around the new panels with a polish. What colour is it? Your Avatar shows an orange Zed
If it's green it will polish no problem, yellow gumby I think had clear over, so you should be able to buff that up, red, not sure if it has clear but even so, you will bring it up.
I would consider it, keep it stock, better resale when it comes to it.
Mind you the last time I priced a mid fairing panel it was for a ZX9R and they wanted a right ball for that

OEM stickers is the killer, hopefully you don't need any.
Good luck
