hey there everyone in cyber land, i need help with my 96 zx7-r! to date i have spent around $7000 on fixing it up, not including the $3000 that i paid for it. the problem i'm having with it is, sometimes while sitting at traffic lights it just cuts out! it has 52000 k's on it and i've had the following things checked or repaired:- ~battery load test = ok, charge rate=ok, fuel pump=ok, fit new ignition pick up sensor, fit new ignition leads, caps and plugs, new fuel filter, strip and ultrasonic clean all carby's components, tank flushed, fuel lines replaced. it starts and runs fine, no smoke. no loss of power!!!! i've been told it could be vapour lock, or maybe valve clearence? other than the cutting out problem, it is an awesome bike. but being that i live in sydney, i cant trust it in traffic and just want to enjoy riding it without always thinking about this problem! does anyone know of a good kwaka mechanic in sydney other than flywheels, as they wont work on it because of its age!

as mentioned check/test/replace the kill switch (also had that issue)... also side stand switch and battery terminals/leads

does the ignition cease when the thermo fan kicks in? (weird i know but also experienced that one with the Electrickerys)

maybe have a chat with 'Allfixed' or contact Paul @ http://www.wet4uracing.com.au/ as he knows this model back-to-front

also i've had problems with it starting while hot, problem comes and goes. as for ignition cease when thermo kicks in, side stand terminals/leads all good. i live in drummoyne so i'll give allfixed a call, also i'll check kill switch. when it wont start while hot, it will jump start but as we all know these babys are heavy to push and it never happens when i'm at the top of a hill, good old murphy's law!

In addition to checking the kill switch, check wear on the ignition key barrell as this can often cause similiar symptoms.
