ok bit of backround and any advice would be great.

Im in 2 minds about selling my 250 ninja that i have. I've been offered $3800 for it. before you say thats not much It has no rego, needs a new rear tyre and a major service on it. I dont have any time to be able to get all of the above done till at least november when i will have some time due to the work schedule.
I dont really want to part with it but i have my zx6r now, but i jumped on the 250 today and it still put a smile on my face, just loud and a heap of fun. but in saying that i'm lucky if i can ride once a weekend. And i dont use it anymore. I'll be away for 6 months so again its going to sit around. Am i just doing the 'wank' thing and holding on to it or should i bite the bullet and part with it

I'd keep it or put a rear tyre on it and rego it, sell it for more

A tyre, a major plus rego must be what....about $1200. So that's $5000 real. I have seen them sell for a lot less than that recently n would only mean less in 6 months time. I think it is a more intelligent financial decision to sell it at that now,... but, it is a bike and we do become attached.

Tell the guy $4000 firm and it's his. November is a long time to wait otherwise. If you're gonna have 2 bikes why not get something different like a naked or an old z or something.

Prob try and sqeeze him to $4,000, but if he won't budge i'd grab the $3,800....... Rego and tyres won't recoup their cost in a sale later on....... anyway who needs a 2fiddy when you camping out on a 6 waiting to get a 10, 12 or 14

Bird in the hand........

Bikes aren't selling real well at the moment I don't think, I'd take it. have you got any accessories on it that the buyer doesn't want, you might be able to make a bit more that way as well

Agree with the others, you have a guaranteed 3.8k now, who knows how much difficulty you will/will not have selling her when you have the time to have those extras fitted. Besides, extra money put into the bike now won't nessecarily improve the return you get later on.

That is unless you have the patience and are willing to take the risk later on.

Not to mention rego/insurance/cost of two bikes etc etc

Don't think 3.8K is such a bad price for what you're selling.

I had the same dilemma when I bought my CBR9 (my first big bike) and still had my GPX250. Put 15000K on the bike in 9 months, and loved it. Took the GPX for a ride after I had ridden the Blade for a month and it still put a smile on my dial; fantastic little bike.

In the end, I was happy to see it go, as I was only maintaining (and paying for) one bike..

sorry guys, been away at sea and went to log on and was locked out with this password bug thats happening:x :x
But I did read the messages and had time to think about it and especially with only 1 free day spare a week if i'm lucky decided it was best to sell. sent the email off last night and it was hard to push the send button.

Yeah strika you summed it up the exact way i was looking at it. In real terms i'm selling for $5000 which is a damn good price. Thanks for the replies, will be shipping my zx6r over while i'm away so when i get back i can ride the east coast and hopefully with some of you again :kuda: :kuda:
