I haven't ridden much and since then had got myself a 4wd. Then driving to some remote locations as you do.
No cops, less high speed hazards, LESS tourists.... what do you think?
The problem of course is getting to these locations and the fact that these are normally not a day trip.

It is insane fun. But, it's bloody difficult to get good at and when you crsh it still hurts. I've been hospitalised 4 times dirtbikr riding. 3 from oncoming riders. The second breaking 14 different bones and requiring 6 screws & thee steel plates to make it work again. Sorry for typo's im tradhed dyill.

As a secondary question then....
Do some of the bike control skills you learn in dirt bike riding translate to better skills on road?

I have recently got into dirt riding and it's Awsome.... Alot harder on the body and is a totally different ball game to road riding IMHO. I can see how dirt riding will help your road riding, control of a bike on loose and changing surfaces.
But I'm finding it quite difficult going from only road/track riding to the dirt. It's alot different!!!! Heaps of fun but different. But like anything it will take time to develop the new skill (I hope

)
I say go for it, I'm glad I did I just need to motard it so I can do both

hehe

I've been wanting to get into dirt riding for ages. Should have gotten a dirtbike as my #2 bike, but will consider that a lesson learned. Got a plan up the sleeve for the slightly longer term, we will see how it goes.

Rainey , Schwanz , Lawson , Doohan , Gardner all noted that dirt riding aided their control over the 500 GP beasts . ( " An Age of SuperHeros " by Mat Oxley ) I think Mamola was on the dirt as a little tacker . Dave Watt too , but he was never a little tacker . Stace has been up a few dirt tracks in his time .
