Hi guys Merryxmas & Happy new year to all. My question is too the brainy people who know the GPZ900r 84. I want to replace my rear shock as the genuine unit is not rebuildable. I really can't afford or justify an Ohlins or similar. So I was wondering if there is a shock off another model kawasaki which would fit my 900 ?
I would appreciate any help in this area.
cheers

you could try a shock from an early ZZR1100 ? I am not 100% sure if these are a bolt-in proposition, but I will have to replace the shock in my '86 model GPZ1000RX soon enough, and its basically the same as the one in the 900R - when I find out what fits or the mods needed, will bung the info up here.
If you have a decent suspension specialist nearby, you could check with them as well....

I have head that shocks for early 90's gsxr can fit with only a little mod, but I have not done it myself.
Rad in Brisbane rebuilt the rear shock for my 83 GPZ750, how is the shock from the next year different?

I'll check our local suspension guru here in Anarchy Road - he is pretty switched on, if the early 90's gixxers can be made to fit, he will be able to do it......
The '83 GPz 750 shock is not the same as the '84 GPZ900R shock - the 84 model has a larger body and has longer eye-to-eye length. The spring rate was also different, due to the differences in the linkage set-up between the air-cooled 750, and the new-age water-cooled 900.
