Zephyr 1100 - Opinions please...

I have seen a Zephyr 1100 for sale, 40,000km for $4900 or thereabouts.

I am actually more interested in this than a lot of other things at the moment. ER-5 made a good learner bike for me, so missy can have it, rather than getting some old clunker 250. Yes, much more sensible for me to get another bike...no, really

So, whaddyreckon? Go nuts.

Does it come with Brown Flairs, cowboy boots & an afro wig Felix ?.
All together now ......

Pretty good price for the ks, is it a grey import or what ?. Motor should be bullet proof, but frame flex, ground clearance n rim size may be concerns. Dont let it fall on ya leg you'd starve to death

Ride it i'm sure the throttle response will make you grin & Buying up for yourself & handing down the ER5 is certainly a better idea then buying another small scoot. Still reckon theres an early ZX7R or zx6r out there with your name all over it.
Cheers Brett

I'm partial to the nekkids (not Nekas!).
Engine is bullet proof as stated before and a lot of metal for the money, good for fast cruising. Good potential to do up and customise unlike most of the plastic fantastic bikes around .....
Just my 2.5c (that inflation for you)

the 1100's are pretty heavy, other than that they are a good bike. i have seen pictures of that green one before, it looks horn.

my mate had a 550 like mine and put a singlesided swing arm from a vfr400r on it. cost him under $2K, looked unbeleivable.

heaps of low down torque makes for nice lazy riding

A while ago (mid 90's)I used to like the look of the big Zephyrs but then the ZRX came out and killed 'em, but at that price a good buy and guaranteed heaps of fun........DO IT!

I feel almost compelled to go and have a look :D

Thanks guys

I am starting my new job tomorrow, which is going to mean, 10 weeks of being sometimes in ippy (where I will be staying) and here in woomba. We've done this before, and well it sucked. It sucks now too, and neither of us really wants to do it. But my reward for doing it could well be the Zeph (or something else in my price range).

I should mention, this is missy's idea - how lucky am I?

Be careful Felix...

When it came time to hand over my bike to the missus and use hers as a trade-in for another bike for me, there was a sudden change of plans and she ended up with the new bike!

As for the bike....

The Zephyr 1100 is a big, heavy, grunty machine and, as Damon said, the ZRX toasted it. However I'd love one, and saw that particular bike on ebay recently. The engine should be very reliable and unless you really push it, the chassis shouldn't give you many heart palpatations. Just remember, it isn't a sports bike.
If that's the style that rings your bells, go for it!
Cheers,
Pete
