QLD Questions

Hey guys,

Am moving to QLD (Gold Coast) soon, so had a couple of questions which I think the QLD boys can help me out with.

1. WhatS the parking rule for QLD (Gold Coast) for motorbikes? Here in Vic, motorbikes can be parked in the footpath legally, and does not have any paid parking structure as such. Am a bit confused about their golden lines as well (Saw them on my last trip to Gold Coast a few weeks back).

2. I have to re register my bike to QLD within 14days of moving. Any body know of any reliable workshops for the Rex in Gold Coast I can get my safety certificate (road worthy) from? I want to take up the opportunity of knowing the workshop (and the guys) better while am getting the roadworthy done, so I can make them my regular service center for the bike in the long run.

Thanks in advance.

Sidds

I believe you can't park on the footpath here.

The gold line means can't park here at all.

When I came up here I got a mobile guy to come to the roadworthy....problem is I can't remember who it was...good guy though.

dunno if I've been any help at all really.

damn! no footpath parking :|
is parking free for motorbikes at least? :\ What about tollways? Most of the toll roads around Vic are free for motorbikes, except Eastlink....

Thanks Lone Wolf, I'll check out Powerhouse.

Thanks Guys, you two have been of good help :kuda:

No footpath parking but you know its Qld after all and fairly relaxed and depending who has had a bad day etc.
Discression.

Allbikes in Slacks creek does thorough rwc and quick too. Cheap.
But would take your bike somewhere closer to home for repairs ;)

When you move to the Gold Coast give Steve @ Powerhouse a call re servicing or drop down to Lawrence Drve Nerang(thats where all the bike shops are).
Not sure if he does safety certificates though.

The guy used when i moved up here was mobile too. Sounds like the same guy but he was based on Gold Coast. Travelled to Brissie once a week. About $85 i think. I've put three through him now, and no hassles at all. Atleast one them was questionalable with regards to few mods. As long as tyre s aree good, exhaust is sensible and every thing works, you'll be fine. Will see if i can find his number.

Thanks matty,
Would be helpful if you could confirm if its the same guy (Brian Harper, http://www.motorcycleroadworthys.com.au/index.html)

I have a Muzzy TI slip on, but its supposedly road legal...aint that loud unless they really rev it :P
Tyres and everything is perfect. Am only worried about a couple of mods I've done. Did my own wiring to install a single tone dual Hella horn, a ciggy lighter socket, and the wiring isn't done the best (neat) way. I'll wrap around some more electrical tapes to make it look nicer :)
I will have my stock exhaust with me as well, in case things go bad.

@Greenmeanie, thanks mate, will give Steve a call and get my servicing done through him.

I am gonna miss free footpath parking so much :(

And what about tollways? We get charged in every tollsway in QLD?

I had non ADR approved braided line, (US markings only), no rear pegs as i had single seat fairings. All he want was to see that i had the rear pegs and a full rear guard.. He started the bike and checked everything worked, including high beam dip and the horn. Didn't even ride it. A genuinely nice guy and down to earth. He asked me if used the cut slicks sitting there in the shed- Ofcousre i said No! Will go and look now.

Yep...Brian Harper is his name, i have used him once, and a mate from work has a few bikes done thru him....as long as lights, indicators and tyres are good, you'll have no probs. The rear tyre on my bike at the time was pretty close to being stuffed, but he passed it (because i said i was getting one pretty soon...and i did). He's not dodgy, he's just a good guy doing us bikers a favour, and not ripping us off for the smallest stupidest things. I think it was about $100 (gold coast, he will travel a fair area). I might have his number here somewhere if you cant find it.Pm me if any troubles.
