Strika has a new little brother

The real Strika, being my 14 year old black Cocker Spaniel, has a new brother. His little brother is most likely to be named Oskar. Name will be confirmed once we have actually seen little Oskar face to face, to make sure he is actually an Oskar before we set it in concrete. Why Oskar? Well, he is a little Hungarian Vizsla and Oskar is a Hungarian name, so we thought it might be a good fit. Plus it sure beat some of the other names Tatyana had suggested, like Achilles FFS!!!!
So, Oskar is now two weeks old and these are the first pics we have seen of him and his brothers and sisters. Oskar has the green band around his neck (How fitting hey!!!). But in the group photo, we can't spot him. I think he is the one asleep underneath two other puppies!!

The relo's have one! Puts his paws up on my shoulders and licks my face to say hello before promptly using my arm as a rag doll...
Congrats and Enjoy Marty

Better than using your leg as a blow up doll

Bahaha Billy!!!

your in fine form mate!
Hey Firey, you would know about them being affectionately known as the "Velcro Dog" then. They tend to stick to their owners like glue. Always wanting to be touching them somewhere. If you are sitting watching the teev, they want to have their head on your lap at best, a paw on your foot at worst. Most owners tell you that they often crawl under the blanket at the foot of the bed and you wake up in the morning with a hungarian Vizsla with it's head on the pillow and under the covers right next to you. Apparently, they just like being part of things. No matter what you are doing. Ours of course will not be sleeping in our bed. Sure, the odd invite on top of the covers when we feel like it, (ie-just after bath time) but on our terms, not the puppy's terms.
Tatyana and I spent a long time researching what breed to get, then once we determined we wanted a Vizsla, we then had a damn good look at nearly every Victorian and several NSW and QLD bloodlines and then we went and spent some time with as many of those dogs as we could. We went to every dog show and agility meeting where there were likely to be Vizslas and we then spent some time working out which lines we liked the look of and which temperaments we liked the most. Then we researched the hip scores and feedback from owners of those lines. Eventually we narrowed it down to three, possibly four breeders and lines.
We then got lucky, with one of the breeders taking a liking to us and putting us in contact with a girl who had a bitch we liked and who had put one of their dogs over her. It happened to be the dog we liked the most out of all the dogs we had got to know. This one had a very calm temperament, as well as very handsome face and body features. A strong, muscular but lithe look with a perhaps too square face for a Vizzsla. But, as we are not intending to breed or show it, we are not fussed if the features are not as close to standard as some others. We really liked the way he looked. A bit like a gold coloured Pointer.
Anyway, Oskar is only two weeks old, so we have another 6 weeks to wait till he arrives home with us. It's gunna be a long 6 weeks.

Yep Marty really affectionate, protective and energetic! The relo's current one is 3 years old and previously they had one for 9 years but got ill as being a pure bred are prone to a few diseases apparently. The first one they had was quite timid in comparison to their current one which despite being desexed has a need to be everywhere all at once. However with my 21 month old walking around Ive never seen a more protective and caring creature.
I warn you though be prepared for lots of exercise and attention!!! Very rewarding and if we ever get out of our inner city cramped lifestyle the Mrs has become accustomed too I wouldnt hesitate!
Post pics when u get him home!!!

Here is little Oskar at 3 weeks of age. We go to meet him on Saturday for the first time. I am obviously pretty keen to see him, but I don't think Tatyana will sleep between now and then.
So how does that rate on the awfully cute scale??
