Hi,
A mate has killed something on the his sixxer, and not too sure on where to look to rectify the issue. Basically his battery went flat, and he tried to jump start it with a RUNNING car (uh oh I hear you say). Something smoked and bike does not react to anything anymore. No lights on dash etc. He says all the fuses *seem* fine. He told me that there was some smoke coming from under/around the tail of the bike. Does anyone know what's been fried? or most likely the damage that has been done?
Thank you in advance.
Help with bike, something's fried....

There should be a fuse or disable link right near the battery or check the relays around the battery

Pull the seat, tail fairing etc off(basically everything you need to be able to see all the wiring and black boxes) and start looking for where that smoke came from(look under the tail as well). Look for discolouration, blackening, holes etc, evidence of heat and smoke.
Best to get your hands on the service manual for the bike too, either buy or find it online.
Letting the smoke out ain't good, hopefully only one component is fried..... good luck. My total guess would be rectifier.

Have a look in the manual and see what's up the back there, I'm guessing rectifier too. The damage might be visible, might not be. Even if rectifier is fried the bike should still show signs of life as it will be running off the battery, it won't charge is all. Maybe the inline fuse or battery got smoked as well.
