Just bought a new shark helmet, I went down a size for better fitting in a newer model from the last shark helmet and the wind noise is really bad above 50km/h. Far short of buying a new helmet or wearing earplugs everytime (cbf) has anyone used a helmet skirt? (no poofter jokes please)

and it works for me. still wear ear plugs too though (getting old).
I got new leathers and they changed the wind flow around my helmet. Before I got it I could stop the wind noise by shrugging my shoulders or putting my hand up near my neck.
Drawback is a bit less flow.

Mate seriously for the sake of your hearing the earplugs are the best was to go. Get molded ones that take a second to put in or take out. You're ability to hear, in my opinion, trumps any "cbf".

OK, Its not so much can't be bothered, I have tinnitus and i find with ear plugs in its amplified when riding but If i dont put them in after a decent ride i get it amplified for a day or so after. Catch 22.

I've got one of those skirts on order.. In the mean time i was googling it and saw some guy put padding in between his helmet liner so it pushes the liner in to his ears more...

Windjammer arrived today and AYYYY Definitely worth the 22 bucks. Fogs up a bit quicker and head cooks a bit more but way worth it.

long rides by yaself its needed lol

It has been a while since I got imvolved with this forum but this subject interested me. Since regaining my passion for riding ( kids left home for a while as if you ever really get rid of them. ) I had forgotten just how noisy a helmet could be. I got an R Jays full face that I like but the wind deafened me so I bought a Windjammer skirt as recommended to me by one of the Farrider crew. It does cut out some noise but a set of earplugs as well really works. My skirt is neoprene and sticks to the rim of the helmet but you can get another type that tucks in around your neck as well. In fact there is a good article in the latest Motorcycle Trader on this very subject and is worth a read. Anyway I promise not to be a stranger and will stop in from time to time. That seemed to be a problem with the origional VR1 KBC helmets, they resolved it on the VR2's by adding a similar sort of thing, but only at the front... It doesnt answer the question as to whether they work 100% but it certainly does cut out a lot of noise on my new(er) helmet.
