If motorcycle costs don't interest you, DELETE NOW. I don't want to
send info to people who don't want the information.
If you want to be on my email list for more motorcycle & scooter
information in the lead up to the Victorian (Nov 2010) & NSW (March
2011) elections just reply to this email. There is no cost associated
with my emails.
The Victorian Government proposes a graded licence system (GLS), to be
introduced mid 2011 if they are re-elected. The GLS will cost would-be
motorcycle & scooter riders $13,000+!
If it happens in Victoria it can happen where you ride.
A GLS will do serious damage to our industry and our transport. It
will push many riders and potential riders into cheap cars. Over time
it will kill smaller bike businesses by cutting off new licences
leaving motorcycling the privlidge of the well-heeled.
Some will ride with no licence, registration or compulsory third party
insurance (CTP) to reduce impossible costs. Some will take risks
cutting spending on protective gear, servicing and parts like tyres
and brakes.
A GLS will reduce safety and cost jobs.
The Victorian Government says on its' website that it will introduce
the GLS mid 2011 while it invites riders to attend consultation
sessions it calls "information" nights. A scam to rival the Windsor
scandal.
The learner approved motorcycles system (LAMs) is only two years old
in Victoria. It has not been evaluated. If GLS replaces LAMs here,
they'll try it in other states. $13,000 plus per licence!
Don't believe me. Have your say online at www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au .
The cost of getting a bike licence proposed by the Victorian
Government will hurt the people who need low-cost, reliable, safe
transport the most. That cost is on top of the highest taxed road user
group in this country, motorcycle & scooter riders. We pay our way!
If you think the CTP petition (link below) is important, please pass
it on. Feel free to use it in newsletters, magazines and on websites
etc.
A person does not have to be a rider to sign and every signature
brings riders closer to saving money by abolishing an unfair road
taxes. A win in Victoria brings makes riders claims across Australia
more credible and so strengthens calls to reduce costs elsewhere.
