ZX12 with ZX10 wheels
ZX12 with ZX10 wheels
I don't know how it started but I was originally looking at after market light wheels for my 2006 12. I then saw 2008 ZX10 wheels on ebay one night and the next day I was picking them up.
For those interested it can be done, but it wasn't a simple change of spacers to the axle. Front wheel (with 310mm rotors) needed 5mm spacers for the callipers and 5mm spacer plates on both sides to widen the rotor centres.
The fun started on the rear wheel when converting from 25mm to 20mm axle, finding out the calliper clashes with the hub, getting a ZX14 rear brake bracket (increased to 250mm dia.) and finally fitting a ZZR1100 rear rotor which bolts on to hub. Luckily I have noted the dimensions but do not know if older ZX10 wheels are any different.
If anyone is interested I would be happy to provide more details. Was going to paint the wheels gold as the originals, but just could't do it. The Black and lime strip just grew on me during the 2 months on this project. The Nissin callipers are just great as I have the lever setting on 3 using 2 fingers comfortably and definitely notice improvement from the bike.

Farkin Hot !! but hey...i might be a bit biased !

Re: ZX12 with ZX10 wheels
I did't get a chance to check weight but did note a difference. I will get the originals and weigh them and remind myself at next tyre change to get zx10 weights (wheels with rotors and sprockets).
I have the front wheel details and should be able to post the rear wheel in a few days.
Front Wheel
4 off 5mm caliper spacers outside diameter 24mm and 10mm internal diameter (this accommodates 310mm ZX10 rotor from 300mm standard ZX12 models post 2004, previous 12 models have 320mm rotors)
2 off 5mm spacer plates (attached sketch) as standard rotors on 2005 ZX12 are 150mm outside to outside apart
2 off standard ZX12 spacers length trimmed 8.5mm
1 off standard ZX 12 axle 25mm

Re: ZX12 with ZX10 wheels
2008 ZX10
HP=185 (197 with Ram Air)
Torque=113Nm
Total Single Riding Weight = Say 290kg (180 for Bike, 25 oil & Petrol, 85 rider)
2005-6 ZX12
HP=178
Torque=112Nm
Total Single Riding Weight = Say 325kg (210 for bike, 30 for oil & Petrol, 85 rider)
In this litigious world I can't see HQ Kawasaki giving it the thumbs up or approved rating, but if I may I put it this way. I am mindful of comprises with this wheel conversion noting 2008 ZX10 has 10% more power and ZX12 has 12% more weight in single riding trim....
As ZX10s are sold with pillion pegs, all I need to consider is a pillion 35kgs lighter and I will be on par.

Re: ZX12 with ZX10 wheels
I reckon these wheels look great.........if they were anodised or powder-coated in gold - instant Marchesini !!
