I am looking at upgrading my Bike Luggage......... I have a Ventura Rack with an old smaller bag, but i'm after a new larger rack bag and possibly some throw over saddle bags........
I've had a quick look at Ventura, Motodry, Dryrider and the cheaper Rjays, they all seem similar, so any experience, advice or opinions would be more than welcome..... especially interested if the saddle bags melt on the exhaust :o Cheers

I had the RJays rack bag. Very expandable, lots of pockets, built in condom to keep it and contents dry. I'm actually considering getting another one (Disco bought my one when I fitted a topbox on the 500). Fully expanded it holds 80ltrs.

I bought A Rjay Rakebag from MCAS at Auburn, it fits on my Ventura Rack no probs it's about 50 Lts when expanded with outside pockets & rain cover.I've found it to be waterproof but if I was riding for days in crap weather I'd use the cover. It was priced at about $155 but I got them down to $140, they have a good range there so it'd be worth a ride there to have a look, hope this helps you out. :kuda:

I'm interested in the saddle bags/soft panniers too... i figure your clearance to the pipes on your 14 is about the same as my clearance to the pipes...

Gearsack are brilliant, and phil Reckons the same for the Rjays bag. I trust Phil's opinion more than most. He rides, He rides a lot, he rides long distances and he rides fucking fast! He swears by them.
I used to ride, I used to ride a lot, I used to ride long distances and I used to ride fast! I swear by Gearsack!

I've had two ventura bags split halfway on a trip previously so fuckem!

I have motodry panniers and they are OK, looking a bit worse for wear after travelling around the country! but for the price they were pretty good (about $100 I think), still plenty of life left in them. I've never had any problems with my Ventura bags, apart from them both leaking like a sieve and fading heaps.

the panniers have hit the exhaust on both the 9 and the 7 and didn't melt :)

Smithy, I've got the Ventura Rally which is expandable to 56 litres ( ? ) - if I had to replace it I'd go for the RJays equivalent. The Ventura does leak slightly, but I use a drybag inside it.

Edit - capacity is 117 litres expanded.

if you can still find one, theres a pacsafe tailsafe which is lockable and has steel mesh so its supposed to be slashproof

http://www.ridesafer.com/Pacsafe_Tailsa ... s-2402.htm

think they've stopped making them but I found one a while ago on ebay.

Makes no difference.. in a hurricane.. they will all leak.. and the dildo covers will fly away!(so will the bike .. but anyway) :D
