Need Advice

Hey guys,

Lately I've been thinking about selling my 250R and stepping up to something bigger and with a bit more grunt. Though the 250 is a great starters bike, I don't quite have the same level of fun on it as I used to. So, is there any bike (LAMS approved) that you guys think would be suitable?

The ZXR250 first comes to mind but I not sure if I like the idea of paying top dollar for a 10+ years bike, that's likely to be trashed to shit :? There is one at bikebiz, which appears in good condition. It does seem to be overpriced at $6k, esp with other 2nd hands around the $4k mark. http://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/Kawa ... -1991.html
Also, have any of you had any experience with Hyosung? I've been looking at the GT650RL, which seem nice. Just that I've heard that their quality isn't great??

Anyway, if you guys have any thoughts or suggestions they would be appreciated 8)

 You currently have the best LAMS bike available (IMO) and it will hold good value when it comes time to upgrade to the ZX6R ;)

Also you answered your own questions.......
The ZXR250, yes that is a lot of money for a a 10+ year old bike, yes it's probably been thrashed and you will struggle to sell it at a good price when you upgrade to the ZX6R ;)

The Hyosung, "seem nice" "quality isn't great" I reckon your on the money there............. and again not worth much second hand when you upgrade to the ZX6R ;) Hang in there I say...........

You could get a kawasaki 650r and remove the throttle restriction..but its not that much more power, a zx6r would decimate it. Or there's a suzuki sv650 which is similar (it looks crap though)

If you really want a more fun bike motard it up with a suzuki drz 400. I'm pretty sure they are still LAMS approved. Could be wrong though :) Its got a little bit more power than a ninja 2pifita but it weigh about 60 kilos less and does wheelies :D and it's a motard!!

How long to go on the P's?

If you're looking for a little more excitement maybe a cheap track bike and some track days?

How long have you got left on LAMS bikes?

Suzuki gs500 and Honda Cb400 are other possibilities... You could always trade at a dealer and push for a good deal as they would be keen for a ninja 250 being the top seller etc...

No point in getting a ZXR250 now, just wait it out and get a 600. If your really desperate get a cheap track bike, dunno about doing a track day on the ninja250 but a advance rider course would be good.

I don't think I've ever said this before, but Wattie makes a lot of sense (just kidding big fella).

Spot on though, You'll do your arse flogging it for another LAMS roady. Do like Wattie said and get a dirt toy or if you want something bigger get a 600 tracky
