fair price ZRX?

Hey guys. hello.gif

Am new to KSRC. Not sure if this an appropriate section for this post.

Am wanting to buy a ZRX1200R. There is one advertised on bikpoint at a dealer in Townsville (I live in Sydney).

Its an 02 model with about 19000 kms. Supposedly in excellent condition.

They are asking $7000 (ride away, no more to pay). Including six months QLD rego.

Is that a bit expensive for an 02 model? Very low kms though, if its genuine!

Obviously I would get someone up there to check it out for me first. I got a number through 'bikenut' for someone up there who can do an inspection for me.

Any coments/advice would be greatly appreciated :-D

Cheers! :kuda:

ZRXs hold their value for a few reasons. I think its the look more than anything, They have a real cult following, & any ZRX is money well spent...I think you'll find a couple in sydney. I saw one at Alto Motorcycles on the main road Chatswood an 07 ZRX1200 for around $7900 I think. Drop in you could be lucky. It was about a month ago.

Mates of mine saw that bike at the dealer recently and they reckon it was really tidy. Can't go wrong with a ZRX. Can't see me parting with mine. A lot of owners have the same view. Lucky to find one for sale....

I would worry more about the general condition of the bike more so than the year model. Plus different years were different slightly in the cosmetic dept. A good clean one of any year that you like the graphics for is a winner ;) Especially if its green. ;) :kuda:

Dont be put off by the k's unless they are stoopid and use that as a bargaining tool, mine has 60K and pulls as hard as ever, I thing Errol has closer to 100K and still does strip runs from memory. He lives up that FNQ way as well......

One of the south crew went looking at an 08 today - general condition was not that flash, so he walked away ;) You can tell a bike that has been looked after and this one just didnt fit the bill.

In reality though - riding with Rod & I who are both very - um - particular - about our bikes, may have given him unrealistic expectations  :kuda:

If it's the one on Bikesales (I assume it is) interesting that the right hand side cover isn't green, check for other signs of crash damage (which is a possibility).

:kuda:

Would love to have a go on one of these one day, they're like the green cousin of my FJ...

Hey guys. I got one! I am now the proud owner of an 05 ZRX 1200R :kuda: Thanks for the link s man. It's the one that was for sale in Hervey Bay. I flew up there, bought it & rode back to Sydney. It's in absolutely immaculate condition, cant believe my luck! :supz: What an awesome machine! REX RULES! :prayer: Paid eight for it and am very happy. When I bought it, there was less than twelve thousand on the clock. Now (just a few days later) there is nearly thirteen! Ha! It's a long way from Hervey Bay to Sydney! So now I have to give it a major service. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic? What should it cost roughly for the twelve thousand K sevice, on one of these freakin awesome machines? I've just got back from Hervey Bay & all I want to do is go for another ride! Not interested in anything else - the wifes not happy! Ha Ha! hat16.gif
