Police have slammed a motorist who was busted carrying furniture hanging metres out of his passenger window in the state's north.
The Shepparton man, aged in his 30s, had refused to pay a $50 fee to have his new purchases delivered to his house six kilometres away and decided he would transport them in his own car instead.

Police Inspector Ian Bull was driving down The Boulevard about 5pm when he saw the car with several boxes of furniture protruding metres out of the boot and window.
Inspector Bull said the driver, who was slapped with a $478 fine, should have known better.

“This motorist put himself, his front-seat passenger, other motorists, cyclists and pedestrians at risk of injury for the sake of saving $50. Is it really worth it? I don't think so,” he said.
The man was fined for breaching dimension requirements causing substantial risk.

What I find most surprising about this story, is that an Inspector stopped someone and did anything about it. :D

IKEA has a lot to answer for, if they made their shit ready assembled he could have p[acked the car in a cupboard and got the lot delivered cheaper :)
