Hi all!!
Theres a sale at MCAS with big price drops on some of the Arai helmets, i was thinking whether i should replace my old KBC one now for a 650$ Nori haga replica? the KBC is starting to wiggle around as the padding around the cheeks dont hug my face anymore. What do you guys think? Or i can use this money to buy some new boots
Cheers
Kev

Can you buy replacement pads? Won't cost that much and still get some boots?

KBC padding looses shape quickly. Even if you replace it, it will be back to loose within 12months.
I am not saying get the arai i am just letting you know what to expect from your lid now.
Have you ever tried on an arai? Does you fit nicely

Blurr- Narr i havent tried the arai lately, i have a round head hehehe might pop in tomorrow and have a look i guess. Its very tempting as the helmet is the same price (converted into AUD) as over in the states.

mate, only way to know is to go out there and try it yourself.
I started a thread about looking for a helmet, i got a plethora of advice and most of it was what i just said.
But there are some good personal reviews on some helmets in the thread as well.
Best advise i can give you is, try them all on. I was content on buying a shark, i event had the shop hold it for me as it was the last in my size.
When i came back to pick it up, i tried a shoei tzr while i waited for the staff to bring my helmet.
I told them to put it back away and that i would take the shoei
Try them all on and see what fits your head best, heck you might even find the THH helmest best fitting, leaving you plenty of dosh for some boots

Much the same as everyone else has said, try them all on. I recently bought a new one after having my last Shoei for five years and I thought I'd try some different options. I was absolutely set on a Suomy which felt really nice and everything worked really well ie Visor locking, vents etc, then for reference I tried on the Shoei XR1100 and immediately slapped myself in the head for considering anything else, but that's me and my head. The Shoei cost me a few hundred more than the Suomy but I figure over five years it's worth it.
MCAS are doing some good prices on Arai's at the moment if they fit OK

So i tried on the Arai vector today, the helmet was ok and did not rape my ears when i take it off due to my big head. The top of the arai helmet feels weird, like something is pushing down from the top. Good or bad? i dunno. Maybe its more safer as it hugs my fat head more. Still think the KBC is more comfortable so i ordered some new pads

your right brent the pads can be replaced

!

The pressure from the top will only get worse the longer you have it on for

I had the same kind of thing when i bought a kbc a few years ago. Pay attention to that feeling, it should not be happening! I ignored an even more subtle pinch at the top of my scalp when i bought that lid and even wore it in the shop for 10 minutes and it felt ok. However when i was on the road with the wind pressure on the lid, something happened and eventually it got to the point where i can't wear the damned thing for over 20 minutes without it feeling like there's a bb slug between the lid and the crown of my head when on the road. It got so bad that i basically had to stop using a brand new helmet as it was not suitable for my noggin. Which sucked, as the lid was exactly what i wanted and was perfect in every other way for me
The funny thing is, i am a serial KBC purchaser and have never had the same problem, before or since.
