I'll be down in Melbourne this weekend with my G/F (ooops sorry "Partner" she likes to be called! )
we have Friday morning - Monday evening to fill in but don't have transport, we're staying at the Mercure in Spring St in the city.
So far on the list is visit the zoo (god knows why I live with her and her 3 kids and that's a zoo! :? ) and we will go and see the Titanic exhibition, what else is there to do? in the past we've been to ye olde Melbourne gaol ( 8) ) and Victoria Markets, and we've had a bit of a walk around southbank and the casino.
cheers all :kuda:

I think that on Sundays you can get cheap train tickets.
https://store.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/i ... nday_saver
can get them at melbourne central
Try heading out to Belgrave and puffing billy.

depends on how old your kids are.
could also look at hiring pushies and riding the bike paths along the river.
Museums not bad if your kids are into it.
http://museumvictoria.com.au/
scienceworks is good for kids if you can work out how to get there

It's bloody cold down here, look for a pub with an open fire and an open bar, perhaps the Belgian beer garden might be worth a look see :)

I was in Melbourne last weekend and damn it was cold on monday! bought back memories of winter in Chch NZ, that aside weatherwise it was great Friday and Saturday and an average Sunday.
Friday we went and had Breakfast at Southbank then checked out Victoria Market and Peter Stevens shops doing it all on foot, and had look at everything in between. Saturday we caught the tram to St Kilda for brekky, had a nosey around there then on the way home went past the South Melbourne market, a woman sitting beside us heard my girlfriend ask me what it was (I had no idea) and said it was worth a look so we got off at the next stop and caught the next tram back ... I think the woman just wanted our seat!
after that we went back into the city and looked around then met up with a cousin of mine for coffee at Southbank, that evening we went to Lygon St for dinner at Totos and had a GREAT Pizza!
Sunday we were going to go to the Zoo but being so wet we just bummed around the city and decided to go back to Victoria markets for a looksee and went to check out the Mint (as in where they made coins) but of course being a touristy thing to do it's not open on weekends bduh.gif after that we decided to head to the museum and get our Tickets for the Titanic exhibition on Monday, just as well we did as it was just about full! we then headed into Chinatown for a BBQ Lunch then I went back to the Hotel fora rest while the G/F continued looking around. That night we met up with a friend and went back to Totos for another Pizza (I told you they were good! ;) ) then went back to the hotel to find they didn't have One HD so we couldn't watch the MotoGP :(
Monday as I said was freezing so we were lucky we had the day planned for inside and we went to the titanic, it was good, amazing to see the stuff they've brought up from the wreck and read all about the ship that everyone knows! I particularly liked the way they'd recreated parts of the ship in the Museum. After looking around there for a couple of hours we went out and got some lunch (didn't want to pay the museum food prices! ) then we went back to Imax to watch Ghosts of the Titanic in 3D, I think we both found the whole 3D experience a bit much on such a huge screen, but apart from that I enjoyed the movie. Next we went back into the museum to check out the rest of it, it was all good although I was a little disturbed at the size of the Tarantula skin sheddings
By now we were pretty much all walked out so we headed back to the Hotel and picked our bags from storage then headed out to the Airport, it was a busy few days with a heap of walking but it was good :kuda:

Sounds like one heck of a busy weekend! (but very cultural too!) :D

why didn't you just watch the motogp on channel ten with it's delay?

it was on 10? :-|
That's what happens when you get spoilt at home with Foxtel and One HD, you don't realise what's happening in the "Real World"
I ended up watching it last night (I recorded it off One HD "just in case") ;)
