Does it cover the "accidental" breakage though?

Monitors are a bastard to pull apart so I've never even bothered ordering one.
Anyway you can get monitors cheap as chips now

Seiko, you haven't got a wireless card for a Toshiba TE2300 by any chance.

I have a dead and "not economical" to fix Toshy coming back two weeks ago
when it eventually lands I'll see if the card is compatable with yours

My 2001 laptop is still running strong, screen is fine, image processing is good (as in 5-6Mb images in Photoshop). Battery life is a little short, and the 20Gb hard drive is a little restricting but for an almost 10 year old laptop it does OK.

The thing is the cards are usually "compatible" as long as they work with the micro-pci or pci-e that is in laptops (one is about 7x6cm, the other is 4.5x6cm or so, give or take) and if it is the right size, should just work by default.
The only exception to the rule is some manufacturers put in a limitation in the laptop bioses so that they would only work with the specific wireless cards that were optionally shipped with their model laptop originally. However this seems less common now than about 7-10 years ago when it was a pretty common practice (my old laptop, a IBM R30 has this restriction as an example). Your best bet is to find out the model card that your laptop is intended to have and then just purchase the same card and slot it in.
