Z1000 FORKS
so, i HATE my dead fork set up...very vague with no feel...
so i was thinking..."cant i just swap out the forks and put another model in?.." or is there another option?\
anyone know what forks i can put in? or what else is suggested (do i get the internals done?)...

Re: Z1000 FORKS
GSXR thou 05 forks, but you will have to mill out the bottom triple tree 1mm, any good engineering shop could do it, same as the conversion I did on the Z750.
The internals of those forks are screwed ... good stuff in 1 leg & crap in the other from memory Check with Zeno & see what he thinks about a rebuild

Re: Z1000 FORKS
search function, and ask Phil.
i think he has zx6r fork going in.
you can get the z1000 fors rebuilt to work properly. or as Rob said, Gixxer forks are cheap and easy to find.

FYI, I have a set of gixxer K5 600/750 forks in the garage. Also have some K6 gixxer 750, and K8 busa front. Getting my collection up. They are all stock by the way.
Oh, and if you wanted to put a 1098 swinger in the back of the Z, lemme know, got 1 of those aswell

Yeah, wife collects shoes and handbags... i collect bike parts. Got plans down the track to butcher/frankenstein/mechanical surgery a bike together. Make a monster like no other.robracer wrote:Oooo we have our own wrecking yard
Got a few scrappy drawings on paper (i struggle to draw stick figures) on a freak bike. Single swingers on front and back, and even plans for a twin spar hub center steer with. Got heaps of ideas. I draw at night when i can't sleep.
Sorry for hijacking thread

Re: Z1000 FORKS
03-04 forks bolt straight into the Z trple clamps, you'll need longer caliper bolts and 10mm spacers, 00-02 zx6 wheel spacers and the the Z front guard fit straight on. You will also need brake lines 75mm longer then stock
05-06 forks you wont need the brake spacers and longer caliper bolts but you will need the wheel spacers and a new front guard (off a 10 or 6 I believe
)
And yes, I have a 04 front end nearly ready to go in - still waiting on some parts to arrive.
Rear is sorted but
