2010 Z1000 undertail

Post by DieselKwaka »

Finally recieved something to install!!
Got my Evotech undertail for the Z last week, and finally got around to installing it
So remember, this is the road train quality mud guard Kawasaki put on for legality and ADR reasons. To be perfectly honest, it does stuff all for the visual appeal, and water supression over the rear wheel. Last week, as some of youse know, it rain pretty hard most afternoons, and being my mode of transport now, i had to ride home in it. I had mud and junk over the back of the Z as well as myself. So it shows it doesnt do much to stop all that. Possibly just slows it down a little.

After 2 beers I installed the Evotech undertail...

What I love the most, is the simplicity of the bracketry, quality and ease installation. It required no cutting or drilling of anything. Everything needed for the install was supllied in the kit. Instructions are ok.. but needed pictures to help. (i didnt use instructions, i used my male direction gland, and 2 beers to excite the flow of creative freedom from said gland). But on a serious note, it was very straight forward. The original indicators, and light are retained, so it does keep its somewhat OEM look. And it also means you dont have to go in and hack your harnesses apart to change lights etc.

Am i happy with it? Hell yes. Extememly. Really cleans up the back of the bike. The kit was a little more $$$ then the standard, regular kits, but i still think the quality is in this kit. The laser cut alloy bracket is powder coated black, and doesnt look like it will break anytime soon. Thick enough to be long lasting, yet light enough to keep the kg's down. As i said, you use all the original indicators etc.
I should have taken a photo under the tail to show how it fills the hole where the original tail went. Very very clean.
Now all i need now is to get the Akra Zort to put on, and i'm almost there. Power Commander 5 has been ordered in an attempt to stop the damn thing pinging itself to pieces, and the only other thing that im going to install, is this...

Suprised it was still available. Ordered it in those colours to. Only thing is, if i do end up spraying the orange panels green, ill need to get the plate remade. No biggie tho.

No, no name yet.
Needs to be a girls name. Still don't even have any ideas yet.
My black SV was called Oprah (colour related), my TL is Anna-Nicole (curves related), Kantana is Marilyn (blonde/yellow related), but nothin is comin to me for the Z yet.
Might have to have a poll for it perhaps :)

Looks great, Diesel! I would love to do a fenderectomy on my Z, but having a fender eliminator it just isn't worth the hassle from the cops here in Qld.
Cheers,
Anne

Hmmm, you might be suprised tho. If it looks factory, then just claim that it is :) Thats what i love about the Evotech tail I installed. Original parts used throughout. And the bracket is a perfect match for the underside colour and hole it sits in.

Yep, she has a name now. Lucie it what she is called. The name came about while sitting in a beer cafe in Sydney, mulling it over, when a beautiful barmaid from Czech Republic called Lucille commented on our bikes. She joined in the mulling session, and BAM, Lucie was born.

Still waiting for exhaust. Been waiting for over 4 weeks now.... must be any day now i hope

Yes they look fantastic don’t they and the workmanship from them is second to none. Have fitted the Tail Tidy to my Z1000 with the micro indicators (as police seem to be more understanding here) the other day loved it so much just ordered the radiator protector.
