ZX10R Competition Werkes Slip-On Exhaust

Post by knightsrider »

Does anybody know if there is a need to do any mods to the exhaust system to put one of these Werkes slip-on exhausts? That is anything to do with exhaust valves, or taking cables off or anything?

Its a 2008 ZX10R. Well if that's the case, should not be a problem putting this brand on?

Excellent if that's the case. The only other can that would be really cool to have is a Kerker, but I can't find any stockists in Oz or much about ZX10Rs fitted with Kerker!

The exhaust valve on this model zx10 is built into the stock end can.. So unless the werkes slip on has a built in exhuast valve aswell you'll have to disconnect your cables from the stock end can and tuck them up somewhere or remove them from the servo under the seat and bike like i did with mine and leave them connected to the exhaust itself ;)

If removing from the bike measure all your adjuster settings at the servo for the cables in case you have to throw it all back on due to any defects etc,
Just make sure you dont disconnect the wiring harness from the servo motor itself or it will throw a FI code and run the bike in safe mode aparently :P

I checked online and also called exotic sportsbike here in the U.S. of idiots and it appears that Kerker does not make an exhaust, either slip-on or full for the ZX10r. I could be wrong but I could not find any. They seem to focus more on the older models 70's and 80's vintage. Good luck and have a Jim Beam. It will make you into an Australian Goddess.

Many thanks for your all your advice. You've answered a lot of questions and confirmed my suspicions about mods. Thanks Oldman for checking up on the Kerker. This is what I suspected. So... it is back to the drawing board. Even Arrow do not seem to make (well I couldn't find in Oz or O/S) a slip on for the '08 ZX10R.

A good place to find what companies make exhausts for your bike is www.exoticsportbike.com. They have an excellent listing of most makes of exhausts and have a place to enter your make and model bike to see what is available. Ordering from them is another matter and would not recommend it if you wish to retain your sanity.

Thanks Kawawog. I've just ordered the same Yoshis based on price, looks and hopefully sound so I'm relieved you're happy. Any pics?

I posted a reply yesterday but it seems to have been cut by the sensors. I think the R55s look stunning. What do you need to do with the control unit? Does the slip-on fit above the electronic valve, replace it or just eliminate it? :?

I fitted a set to my zx14. The 06-07 is a different size to the 08 zx14 but I made them fit with a flared sleeve. Very loud though but I always wear ear plugs. If you have questions, they have an inquire box on their web site and the guy gave me some advice prior to purchase.
