If you want to stop by and fuel up on the way to Wakefield or Marulan or anywhere on Sunday, or on the way home (only on Sunday) here's a little present from here:

You'll probably have to save as, can't see the whole image in the KSRC browser window.

... at the price of v-max you need any discount possibly.... (although if this is one day only... what's the bet the v-max is even more expensive then normal?)

Yeah......... I heard the same about Shell being no good for bikes, I don't know if it is or isn't, but why risk it, plus Shell is always more expensive...

BP Premium for me, or 2nd choice Caltex Premium

Shell 98 soils the plugs of carby bikes, the 95 is OK. It deson't seem to affect Fi bikes so much, although I avoid it where possible. Mobile 98 and BP 98 use the same base product (Made by BP) but with different additives. All other fuels, 92, 95 and 98 (Except BP & mobile 98) are all made from the same base product but have unique additives for each brand. It's the additives/octane booster in Shell 98 the carby bikes don't seem to like. My CBR would foul the plugs in 1 tank of Shell when I tested it. That was before I worked for BP.

I was under the impression that the above concerns were true for Optimax however Shell changed their additives to resolve this known issue and called it V Power.

V power was designed to overcome these issues but it seems the stigma will always linger.

Well they should advertise the fact if they have......
They probably think "oh well only a few dickhead bikers"...............but I won't put it in my car either ;)
Many probably think the same way

You didn't see it therefore it doesn't exist? Or do we ignore it because the it's the company making the claim therefore it must be a lie? Or because someone on the internet said so?

Yes there was a problem with some vehicles and optimax (cars as well, not just bikes), yes they claim they changed it because of that and yes they did advertise the fact. No-one here has claimed anything more than that.

.....and there's a big difference between healthy scepticism and paranoia. I subscribe to the former, which do you?

I always shied away from Optimax when I had the rally car, preferring BP Ultimate or Mobil 8000. I probably wouldn't put Shell vPower in the bike if I could help it, but I'll certainly be filling the car with it on Sunday morning to tow the bikes to Marulan and back.
