Defo NOT a popo bash!!

Friend won a case in court whereby the charges included reckless driving , 2 counts of speeding including alegedly exeeding the posted limit by over 45km/hr

Brief (loose) description:
Sen const' popo and new (3mths on the job) male popo travelling in opposite direction to a friend of mine riding lg capacity road bike (details withheld for obvious reasons) .
>UNMARKED popo lock speed on bike whilst travelling in opposite direction as alleged 124 in 110 zone (radar operator is untrained new officer)
>popo execute U-turn and give chase to bike (rider wearing earplugs , has not yet registered popo presence)
>Bike continues on maintaining speed (not realising unmarked popo car is pursueing) until rolling off / touching brake entering 80 zone / town limits !! (mirror check then revealed popo!!)
>popo registered (apparantly) initial speed reading @ 14km peg out of town (decatur Gen II Ardy) .... yes that 's correct 1 4 km to catch bike (conveniently now in lower speed zone of 80) claiming bike "sped up" when in fact bike maintained constant speed then dropped down to 80 as per posted limit when approaching town.
>Femme popo claims they were doing "180" to catch bike (would take a month of Sundays if they did 110 now wouldn't it!?)
>Popo insinuates bike was 'running' rider says in nicest possible way if they were running , popo would still be wondering where the hell it went???

>I was required to testify so did not sit in on entire hearing (until I was to take the stand)
-What I did hear was a whole lot of B/S on behalf of the senior const' which as originally suspected (the reason we even went to court) had left huge discrepancies in her evidence to the point of contradicting her own written statement!!!

POINT??
Rider fought charge because in their opinion , they had not done anything wrong.
( accused of 2 counts of speeding inc 1 of over 45km (133 in 80) wreckless , $1000.00 fine ,loss of lic 9 mths etc etc )

3 soliciters later and quite a bit of dosh , found 1 with some balls and a little more than just a uni degree on the wall re substance ...

Today's finding = NOT GUILTY on all counts !!:)

I repeat , this IS NOT a popo bash , the force like any other workplace has it's share of decent human beings and then it has its assholes.. In this case justice prevailed and another blatant revenue raising exercise / officer 'fast tracking' manouvre was foiled .......... damn shame that ... hope the bitch loses a stripe!!!:mad::mad:
All good in the end - just thought I'd share ;)

the coppers, although trained in giving evidence in court matters - are just like anyone else. They can make mistakes and fuck up occassionally - and when this happens, the magistrates tend to take a *much* dimmer view of any evidence they present.

Rightfully so, the courts expect the coppers to be able to provide accurate statements that can be subject to the most intense scrutiny, and still be correct and reliable in every detail. As soon as some cracks appear - and this generally needs a good mouthpiece working for the defendant - then its almost a given that the charges will be tossed out.

In any case, in this example - nobody was injured, and the newbie copper has learned a valuable lesson in the presentation of evidence.

Nice story ION !! :kuda:

I suspect, as always, that there are two sides to this story. I would not be suprised if your mate hasn't told you the whole story. I know for a fact that when my mates get in the shit, and they come to me for advice, that they generally withhold some info, or just make stuff up.

There's also a chance that the copper probably hasn't given a lot of evidence in court, and as Gos said, when the pressure got put on, she started to make mistakes and the magistrate deemed her to be unreliable. It happens.

A win for your mate - if you call spending all that cash a win.

And a nothing for the copper. Who probably doesn't give a rats arse. Like me, she gets paid to be in court and I've never really given a rats arse about the outcome.

good on him. Cops probably did 180 km/h just after the U turn to catch up with the bike going ~120km/h, most probably putting the general public at high risk in doing so!

HWP get trained for high-speed pursuits. If they were on the way to your grandmothers house to stop a rapist - would you prefer they drive at the posted limits ?

I didn't think so....

Certain people around here think your a "FUCKWIT" if you have the balls not to be a "conformist -fit in under any circumstances- weak as piss,
tow the line believe anything, softcock, MF, socialite".
Did I miss anything?
At least when society innevitably colapses, I won't be sitting there crying like a baby screaming for my mummy.
I'll be taking what my Family needs to survive and putting down groveling wooses as I go
Bit harsh I know....but under those "certain" circumstances....WTF..there won't be any illusionist system around to fall back on, will there?

I love to drink and I hate......................................................................they know!!!!!
