Helmet Stolen

F@ckers !!

Had the bike under cover at the end of the car park at Wenty leagues while I popped in for some lunch. Usually take the helmet in but locked it on the bike this time, came out a couple of hours later and it was cut off, they left the 2 metal rings from the strap though, lol.

I had the bright idea of posting a message on the forum to see if anyone from that area had a spare helmet I could borrow but was already half way home by then, reminder to myself.......... have bright ideas before heading home !!

With taxis, and 2 trains each way then the ride home it took me 5 hours all up, how f@cking inconvenient is it to have a helmet stolen :(

Bugger sorry to hear that, shame you didn't post up I'm not too far away and could have got you sorted to at least get home. It ashame the f@#kers can't leave other peoples stuff alone, I mean they will never be able to use them selves since it was cut, just a wilful act of destruction of other peoples property! You should contact the club and let them know they might have it on video and may be able to identify the criminals and give that info to the cops.

how did you attach it? I usually leave mine with a bike lock through the visor and then around the front wheel.
That definately sucks with no helmet :S One time i forgot the key which open the bike lock for my helmet, and becuase i leave it open i just locked it but when i came back i had no key! It was lucky that i was not too far from home and got the key to unlock the helmet and front wheel.

Frank, I told the guys in the club but there are no cameras in that area, they took the details and I also warned another rider as he walked in without his helmet !!

Zx, there is a rubber coated wire that is attached under the seat, it goes through the metail rings on the strap and back under the seat, nothing to stop them just cutting the strap.

I'm booked in for the gingers ride so I'll have to buy a cheapie until I can afford a better one.

that's a real PITA but more importantly is the bike still there? I've heard that bike thieves steal the helmet like that knowing that you can't ride it home -they then turn up to steal the bike.

I used to look for ways to leave my helmet with the bike but always take it with me know - not worth the risk.

I've had helmets stolen from within the garage.. but never when attached to the bike.. I feel for you :(

Could it just be the geographical area you were in? (and no i am not generalising)...

Sorry to hear about your helmet. If you feed the wire around the chinpeice of your helmet, instead of the D rings then back under the seat they cannot get it off.

I thought of that and moved the bike closer to the back entrance so they could keep an eye on it while I was gone.

Wires aren't that long, won't be doing it that way after this anyway :)
