Our trip around Oz is self funded, and as such we need to start planning the things we need and how much its going to cost us. Ill start a wish list here, and add to it as needed.
We would be very grateful if you can provide us with the best price on any of the following items.
We will need 2 of everything:
Tom tom or equal
Netbook
USB Key
Portable Hard Drive
Fuji Finepix XP10 digital camera (dustproof, shockproof, freezerproof)
JVC Picsio High def. camcorder
Helmet cam

2 X klr 650 supplied by kawasaki australia....possibly ex demo bikes??????????

pick up perth to do top end????(now that means a trip back to perth to pick up original bikes later.???? unless supplied ex sydney
service (MINOR) through kawasaki dealers australia wide say every 2000k there abouts (already queried that with Boltons adelaide heard anything ladies)
sponsors sponsors sponsors bang a word in for the ladies those who have close contacts with the MC world through business or racing.......there's publicity value in it for sponsors if they get on board and MEL and ROBYN push the philanthropist/fund raising angle....although NSW based it is a great awarness program aust wide .....TV i'm sure will be interested as a minor story ( current affairs shows after the news but wide viewer numbers)) and/or their video edited and sold to a net work...... Mick dundee ???? MRAA fund raiser to follow girls aust wide too and publicise progress as well as KSRC site...........TAC vic RTA perth, Sydney and who ever other states and territories have as their road trauma insurance bodies, minor imput perhaps fuel expenses...but massive exposure if on board
yes i have been drinking but i think there are huge possibilities for these 2 GIRLS with 2 KAWASAKIS if the word spreads

If kawasaki Aus don't jump on this they are stupid IMO

.......Didn't they give the late Dave RIP a GTR1400 ride across Aus?....If they didn't do something to help these girl's out would be wrong

......Would be great publicity for them (Kawasaki)

honestly there is not much we can tell you girls about long distance riding but the biggest peice of advice will be minimise luggage. I suggest the following in regards to your list
- get a good nokia (or similiar brand) mobile phone that has a decent that has a 5meg or higher digital camera. This should retail for about 600-800 bucks.
- from there load your tom tom or navman program onto the phone and buy an external bluetooth GPS for about $50 from ebay. This will work just as well as a standalone GPS and save room and one extra charger you need to lug around.
- next in said phone stick in the largest memory card you can find and pack a usb cable. The phone will now double as your memory stick and extrernal harddrive (in some cases)
- in all honest i took a camera in my trip and never pulled it out after the second day. The camera on the phone was just as good and always accessable so it got used most of the time.
- lastly if in trouble this phone surprisingly enough can act as a phone when needed.
Thats how i will do my next trip after learning from my last one.HTH

Another thought, maybe do as many long trips between now and the starting date as you can to help with the endurance. Especially if you can squeeze in a couple of multi-day trips beforehand. I'm only suggesting it as others who have done big trips have suggested this as a way to warm up for the actual event.

A tip I discovered when traversing Europe is take a power board cause I assume when u get in of a night you will want to charge your phone, camera, laptop... and whatever other electronic equipment you have... You only need one power point! Its genius!!
