The question i ask is;

Why are you after a big bore?
Have you tried the midrange? (zx-6 is a niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice bike!) ....

If you know what you are looking for; and know how to look for faults... ebay works...

You don't think that's a big call seeing you haven't ridden a 600 yet? A 250 to a 600 is a pretty big jump, but go for it, you only live once as you said. Just make sure the once you live is not lying on a bed staring at the ceiling for the next 20+ years having someone wipe your arse.

Just quietly how old are you and are you planning on having insurance? Be prepared for a shock if you're under 25...actually under 40.

Take it easy...

Mick ;)

It doesn't matter what we say, if he wants a ZX10R then a ZX10R he'll have. Tis ok if he takes it easy, especially the first time he twists the throttle.

I nearly shit myself the first time on a 600 after a GPX250R, and that was a fat-arsed ZZR600, not a ZX-6R. Then again I'm old, fat, have kids and am not particularly imbued with as much of a sense of my invincibility as I could be.

Mick

im 20 and im not trying to bag out 600's i think they are great bikes, but for what im chasing the 1000 suits me best and insurance is not a problem.

lucky bugger,

i check tradingpost.com.au and bikesales.com.au religously.

I reckon flying up or down to qld or vic, respectively, would be a great ride back home on your new beast if there wasn't one you liked local

My ninja atm is unregiestered, im respraying it, and servicing it and basically cleaned it all out, ive been queit busy with work, when it gets back on the road ill come up to the PITS,

ill try trading post and im considering buying interstate, just considering my options on how hard its going to be to get nsw plates on it without too much of a hassel.

that's a good point, if the RTA is involved in transfer and plates you re better off to go out on oxford st the night before to loosen your ass up for the inevitable insertion from them.

you could keep it registered in vic as its a lot cheaper if you know someone there...lots of people have their vehicles registered in vic as its much cheaper, so i hear... :D

check bikebiz mate, they usually have some bikes posted on their website. But if you are getting no joy online only other way is to get your jacket and helmet and hit the dealers to see what you like.

Then try and find it cheaper on the net ;)

That means two things mate.

1. No insurance. That's ok if you have no offs, but bad if you bingle (not Lara either) and survive, especially if you run into someone/something.
2. You don't mind paying >$3500/year. FWIW if you were in Melbourne, 20 years old, no finance, no previous insurer your premium would be $7332/yr through the RACV...which is criminal but it gives you an idea of the risk group your age group is in.

Either way has its risks vs. reward, but you'd know that already.
