the great debate?

Been fighting it out today with couple of victorian people over the name of a potato scallop. now being from NSW i've always known them as this but to victoria its a potato cake. so which is correct

WTF! So if I have battered fish it's a fish cake? Wattie's battered Mars Bars are Mars Cakes? Do I have to batter my daughter's birthday cake next year so we know it's a cake? Better tell the japanese that their tempura is actually a cake too
