Need a track bike!

So today I did one of those Stay Upright courses at Eastern Creek. It was the first time I had ever been there, and was bloody excited to finally have a crack at it. :)

After a quick intro talk we were taken out to where we would be riding for the day. The area we had to play in (for the intermediate course anyway) was T6-8, then looped back around to T6, via the passageway on the left, before T9. So the instructors did their thing and we then got to put what they taught us into motion. Especially loved the whole lesson on riding position and leaning because it meant I could open the throttles a bit. HAD A BLAST! Especially enjoyed T7!

All I can say is that I need to get myself a track bike and have a proper run someday! :kuda:
Any reccomendations on a good starter bike (cbr250rr perhaps?) or should I save and get a real track bike?
Also approx how much could race fairings, slicks, crash knobs etc set me back?

Take your 250R out to begin with. Obviously it's your road bike so take it easy and enjoy the day, don't worry about setting any lap records. Once you've got a little real world experience on the track you'll soon find the answers to most of the questions you've asked.

BTW, a CBR250/ZXR250 would be a good starting point.

Thats a hard one, they are massivly overpriced, best bet would be get an older 6 that is already sorted for the same money ;)
But in saying that the CBRR 250 that I had was good for 1:53's around the creek @ 22,000RPM (rev limiter bypass)

Mate it is soooo much fun. I've just started and have a ball each time I get on the track.
