CTP rip-off

Rego on roady up for renewal this month and I received the CTP renewal from GIO for $501.97 and it seemed high so I thought I would do the quote thing via the RTA. GIO came up as the cheapest at $257.76 - almost half that of the renewal they sent me.

I contacted them and they confirmed the lower price. Seems as I have full comprehensive insurance, even though it's not with them, I get a discount on CTP.

Pays to query everything these days.

Gio definately do not cover hospital bills for yourself as a motorcyclist, your only covered if you hurt someone else....

i am 100% on that spoke to them a month ago about my CTP

not sure about other companies, that might be why its cheaper???

Don't think any company provides cover for rider at fault. Some do for driver at fault though.

I think what he means is that GIO used to advertise that their CTP would also cover your hospital for at-fault claims or something to that affect. But then you read the fine print and they don't offer it to motorcycles or drivers under 25 or something. But generally hospital cover is covered by your medical insurance. Comp covers doesn't cover your medical.

I don't know if any of them cover at fault riders. It was a shock for me to find out I wasn't covered when I had my crash as they advertised as covering at fault drivers. It still put my premiums up this year even though I didn't make a claim.
