Just interested, does anyone else use penrite engine oil in their bikes. We have been using HPR10 gas oil in our bikes for years.

why?
i generally use bike oil in the bikes, and car oil in the cars.
Penrite oil is reasonable stuff, as long as it doent have friction modifiers in it it is fine for wet clutches.

I used penrite in the old gpx250 - was pretty good for that. Lasted a while and gave smooth gear changes.
I always used fully synth in the the ZZR6 and ZX9R though (the penrite was a blend)

Before I got back into motorcycles I had always put Penrite oil into my cars as did my Dad. When I got back into riding I started to do some research in relation to oils, the prices of motorcycle oils just was not close to other oils. I read this
www.nightrider.com/biketech/oiltest1.htm.
I know it is very old now but bet it is still close to the mark. Anyway leaving that aside I have used Penrite on 7 different bikes and have not had a problem. When I was getting a service the machanic went the normal line of, I would't put that in a bike and my warranty would be void becasue it didn't make specs. I suggested he check it, which he did and there are no problems. Besides which it is an Australian company and there is not many left.

I've been using Silkolene in my bikes for almost as long as I can remember. Actuall not true. I ran my first two stroke on Castrol R, loved the smell but it was expensive and Silkolene came out with more advances formulas. I use Solkolene everything from their gear oil to their fork oil - except their chain lube which flings off terribly.
But please don't tell my boss - I work for Castrol

I have been using penrite oils for many yrs;
Hpr50, Hpr30 351 roller 600hp 9500rpm engine, clean in good cond checked regularly, up to 3 yrs ago.
Hi performance 2 stroke kx500 for 2 yrs good protection...althou i love the smell of castrol R30 run that for few yrs too.
ZX9R motul 5100 first 30000 k's then onto HPRGAS10 10w-50 for next 58000k's no dramas head off at 88 thou, down a little compression, cam showin wear as you would expect,
other than that all pretty clean tick the valves reseated etc all good mate has bike now sill goin well, over 910000k's
ZX10R SIN15 full synthetic comp oil 15W- 40, 17000 k's (used as a trackbike approx 3500 k's over 3 yrs) SIN15 used since purchased (3000k's) no dramas..
In my roadbikes i change oil every 3000k's... when i was doin trackdays on the 10R every 3 trackdays..
I like Penrite as it is australian owned and i believe its very good oil, But i also think most oils these days are good quality...
The secret is to change oil very regularly 3000/3500 k's 6000/6500 filters.. i also buy 20litre drums at a time save $$$
and always warm up engine well g/box etc not just water temp... even at very high rpms race etc as long as you use good oil and change often as they say oil is cheap, parts are not!!
