What would it cost to build a ZX6R from genuine spare parts?

Both Glen and I have had to buy genuine Kawasaki spares in the past couple of weeks.
Mine was $250 for a sump/oil pan for my 08 ZX6R, Glen/Chris's gear lever was $170 for their 08 ZX6R (didn't even come with the rubber boot) and these were the prices after our KSRC discount.
Just for fun, that got us thinking what would it cost to build a modern bike entirely from genuine kawasaki spares?
I'll chuck out there $40,000.

I have a set of mirrors for ya Tim if you still need them.
That makes it $39,700

I once priced about 2/3 of a ninja 250 and came up with about $16,000 from memory... That included all the big money parts in the engine too... I reckon you're looking at about 25 grand for a zx6

Its still a matter of degrees. It would be cheaper to buy an engine as a whole than to buy each component part, so is your hypothetical spares bike to be built from units or broken down to the smallest components in the parts manual? I remember a story about 'some guy' who built a car from spares and the cost was astronomical. Remember also that the manufacturers often claim that they don't make money on the original vehicle - and thats why parts cost so much.

Well I couldn't get anyone to bite about the brakes or helmets.

We did that exercise at work for a Toyota corolla retail $23,000 on road
In spare parts was over $200,000 plus then the labour to put it together
