About the ZX6RR

Post by Mel »

So in my search for the upgrade I have been scouring bikesales on a regular basis... and noticed that there seems to be a few ZX6RR's around at the moment.

It was my understanding that they released the 636 but this wasn't eligible for the 600cc race class because the engine capacity was too big so they also released the RR version at 599cc so it was eligible in the 600 class.... is that right?

So, is it more likely than not that an 03 ZX6RR has been raced?

Any other thoughts/input on this model of bike?

yes... quite likely, but a few have not.
Look for tell tale signs like, holes drilled for lockwiring to the sump plug, radiator cap, oil filler cap water pump etc..
Being an ex race bike is not a bad thing, some of us look after them better than others do there road bikes.. ;)

Thanks Dave :D I never thought about the fact that just cuz it's been raced doesn't mean it hasn't been looked after... :? and it's likely to have a pretty easy life with me :kuda:

I think if I was a bike, I'd prefer a few laps around PI than laps around Australia! =P

Unless you are going to race it you are better off with the 636 anyway....
