Tank overflow hose

Post by Cath »

Anybody ever had their fuel overflow block up?

What did you do? Clean it / unblock it or just replace the hose?
Is it an easy job? Does it require the tank be removed from the bike?

Also, a related question: What do you do when your pit crew doesn't fix things in a timely fashion? Fire them? Discipline them? Encourage them?
I don't think I want to find a replacement, as it would require too much effort, and it's hard to find good help these days...

Hi Cath try compressed air to try and blow the obstuction out from the top of the tank. If that doesn't work pull of the hose from the underside of the tank and check to see if the blockage is in the hose or in the tank. If it's in the hose it's probably easier to just replace it with a piece of fuel grade hose of the same size and length.

As for the pit biatch, liberal use of a piece of old fuel hose as a whip works as an incentaive, though you may want to use a ball gag to stiffle the screams. Then again he may actually like it.

was it painted over cath?? :?

i if so, just have to lift tank up, pull the rubber hose off and make sure the little nipple thing on the bottom of the tank is clear.

as frank said, compresses air form the top os easiest.

I don't think it would be legal to use compressed air on the pit biatch Wattie

Cath I think he probably needs some discipline. Tie him up and whip him and you will soon have all your needs sorted ;) I don't think you should sack him. Like you said, "it's hard to find good help these days", but it's good to find hard help......... ;) ;)

Hi Cath, check also that the hose is not kinked anywhere........ had that happen on the ER-6.

While you're at it, check the pit biatch for kinks ........ oops, we know he already has those !

I always find positive reinforcement gets better results than punishment, so the better you service the pit bitch the better service you should receive. You owe us Dave!
