Sound difference between slip on and full exhaust system?

Ey guys. Looking to order an akrapovic exhaust system for my bike today and dont know wether to get the akrapovic slip on or akrapovic full exhaust system. Ive got an 05 zx636 and not really worred about the extra horsepower as the bike goes awsome as it is. Just want to have the bike sounding as good as possible. Is there much of a difference in sound volume/quality between the slip on akrapovic system and the full exhaust racing system?

Russ just did the change to his zx10r. Not a lot of difference in Db between the slipon and full system but the full system sounds a bit deeper.
Probly due to the bigger dia header and link pipe.
The Akro's are a good sounding pipe, not too high pitch and not too loud.

but remember, one day you may want a few more ponies and you may regret not getting the full system... or not.. :-)

I just changed my Akro slip on to a full Evo system and the difference in sound was quiet surprising actually.

i wasnt expecting any change in noise or note I was mearly chasing HP. You will find that the full system has a larger diameter link pipe which I think created the deeper sound that I now have.

Overall though if your not chasing the extra power a simple slip on will be more than enough for a decent note change. My M4 slip on, on my roadie is heaps louder than my full system on the trackie and it was 1/3 the price ;)

Ahhh k so there is a bit of a difference...

yeh im not really chasing horsepower at this stage. Simply just want the bike to sound alot better and a fair bit louder. I only use it on the street so i dont reallly see the point of trying to make the thing go as fast as possibly as it already rips the crap out of any car on the road stock anyway lol

is the slip on exhaust still alot louder than the stock exhaust? I heard you can take a silencer thing out or somthing and make it louder? Also heard if you get a full exhaust you need a pcIII air filter and full remap and get it dynoed which could be another $1000 or so there. Is that tru?
Also where did ya get ya akra exhaust from mate?

No I said it made the note alot deeper and probably more crisp. Not that much louder at all.

The slip on sounds great as is and will be more than likely the only sound differnce you would be after. One thing that you need ot consideris that once you order your slip on you cannot simply upgrade it to a full system down the track by ordering the headers as the link pipe and connections will all be different. This means you will need to buy a full new system if you do want to go down that path later down the track.

It is recommended that you run a PC3/PC5 with a full system to get it running to its full potential again but not neccessarily an aftermarket filter. This is just to flaten out your A/F mixtures again which in turn will generally mean the bike will achieve more HP.

I have bought all of my exhaust systems from the states. This time I used www.starcycle.com
email them as I managed to get a heaps better deal through email exchange.

Thanks for the info mate! Appreciate it and sorry about the 100 questions lol

The other exhaust i was looking at was the two brothers duel cans. Heard a few clips of them on you tube and they sound awsome! Alot of people say they look a bit ugly but i dont mind the look of them! I heard they are a very loud exhaust too! They dont make a full system for the 05 zx636 i dont thinl Have you had any expierience with them?

Ohh yeh and i did hear about that:) if you buy a slip on and decide to upgrade it to the full exhaust you need to replace the whole thing rather than just buying the extra parts! Bit of a drainer but i guess thats how they make money:P

For the price diff the sound difference is not worth it, spend the difference on your suspension and brakes.

Ps don't ever buy a 2bros you could make a better exhaust in your own kitchen.

lol in that case better steer clear of the 2 bros then....

ive been checking out alot of pics on alot of forums for ideas and the yosi slip on system seems to be popular. Can get a full system for about 800 as well! which is great! I heard yoshi a mainly a suzuki exhaust tho. Which exhaust do you use?

First time I've heard anything negative about the Two Brothers exhausts... (I'm assuming the comments that my gorgeous zorst looked like two hanging dogs balls were complimentary, of course) ;)
Why do you say that? Did something go wrong with yours?

I just installed a Yoshi rc 55 gp shorty slip on on my 09 zx10 and it sounds HAAAAWT and gave it that little extra power
And from what i can see you can buy an optional link pipe seperate to do away with the cat converter and net a nice little HP gain further down the track if need be..
But of course you will need after market fueling management to suit if the cat is removed from what ive heard ;)
Heres a piccy of my pipe

Cheers :)
