Who is getting helled for their ride?

Well it's more venting than a question but if anyone has had/is having similar experiences feel free to share.

As of late I have been getting a heap of shit about the recent purchasing of my ZX7R, namely from my mother and fiance. I had been on a fair stint overseas and had a CBR250 garaged up and only to want to get rid of it once I was back and get something a little more feisty. Naturally! However, this black beauty of mine has landed me plenty of lecture time on my/our current financial situation. It has come to the stage where I ALMOST feel guilty for taking my noble steed out for a squirt. If you live at home, you may get the 'Ride carefully' thing, but family is going to worry regardless if they know what you are riding.. and its big. And loud. I know an upgrade requires a decision in relation to available funds but my fiance even came right out tonight and said 'What about you sell the bike'.. Utter horror. I've been thinking about selling my little, white, turbo, Toyota GT cage, that I also love dearly, over my ZX7R. Decisions decisions.

Does anyone else cop this shit?

It is probably the reason for sale for a quarter of the used bike market, but i'd like to hear about it.

Nope...I'm divorced...and my mum is in a nursing home and I drive there...

It's always a balancing act...safe and sound locked up at home so nothing happens to you and wonder 'what if'...

Everyone has choices...and choices carry consequences...good luck... :kuda:

There's a proverb that says: "A ship in the harbour is a safe ship, but that's not what ships are built for"

yepbut it is not because of the finances or danger. It's because I spend more time with my 2 bikes than her :D

haha I like ya resolve, at least ya priority's are right.

even tho' I am 42 and ridden all my life my olds have been nothing but supportive but always said " be careful Jon"
And I have been through many woman that tried to change my bike ways, to no avail poor darlings... BUT hey, don't ever get in the way sweetheart

I have been on bikes all this time since 6 years old, lost mates, but I still ride , addiction and memory loss helps..I do think about it...AND still ride, it IS MY LIFE simply ;)

I want everyone to know that if I die on a bike I have lived well, and died doing something i love totally. even if it doesn't involve a bike at least I lived it hard mate 8)

My mum worries a little, has even asked me to be careful from time to time, but has never said to stop riding. My dad was a bit more in my face about saying he doesn't like me riding, but it's always been met with a "well im doing it, so like it or lump it" attitude.
As to my missus, well she trusts me, asks me to be careful when i ride and as to the financial aspect, the worst thing that has come out of it is discussions about the fiscal issues with registering two bikes, which as one is sub 300cc, isn't that much of a drama to begin with. As to "new bike" syndrome. I saved carefully, sold my bike and THEN bought the new one. Fortunately she has been quite reasonable about buying a bike, that and i bought it long before we were engaged. I'm not quite sure how the conversation would have gone down if i tried the same thing again within the last 6 months (saving for honeymoon & wedding & then clearing debts/deposit, etc)

Mrs doesnt like that i spend heaps of cash on the bike, but she married me knowing i was a ike person so she kinda understands.

My hubby is a sly bugger and resolved this problem by making sure we both got bikes! :D :D

I'm now just as bad as he is and have no problems in telling people to go jump when they try to intone that it's too dangerous or too expensive :kuda:

If you really like your bikes stick with it. In 29yrs my Mrs has never once had a compaint about me riding bikes, it's my thing. I don't spend half of every weekend playing golf, I don't sit in a pub every night after work, I don't sit in a TAB pissing money away on horses but I ride my bike when I can. I'm sure she'd think I spend too much money on them but again, it's what I do for fun and she never complains about it. Likewise when she wants to do something, go somewhere, buy something, that's cool.

It's a two way street old son, maybe the next time the subject gets raised ask the relo's to give up something they like doing.
