Driving Brisbane to Sydney - inland or coast road?

As I'm coming down to Sydney for Xmas track day in December, I was wondering which way was the best. I'll be doing it over two days and there has been some discussion regarding whether to go the inland road or coast road. I've heard the inland was quicker with less traffic. I've even thought about going down one way and back the other.
Has anybody done it recently and whats their opinion.

I used to drag oversized loads interstate and would not go any other way than through Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, Moree, Narrabri. Quirindi and then the New England to Thornton then the Freeway Sydney. Heaps of long straight flat sections of highway..........
If you are in a car, I would go via Ipswich and Warwick and the New England to Thornton and the Freeway to Sydney, or the coast road if you do it at the right time and don't hit peak hour traffic in the variuos towns..........
If you are on a bike and have two days you have too many options other than the coast road, I would probably ride down the coast to Urunga then take the Dorrigo Road accross to Tamworth and pull up stumps for the night, then go the New England to Singleton and the Putty into Sydney........... You could also go down the coast to Port Macquarie and do the Oxley to Tamworth or then again the Oxley via Glouster and Dungog and then via Singleton and the Putty into Sydney.
I guess if your on a bike, you need to do The Putty, The Oxley and Waterfall Way (Dorrigo) either on the way down or on the way back. Hope I helped.....

The Pac Highway has *lots* of roadworks all over the place - its a pain in the arse and way slow.
Inland route FTW !

i have done both, inland wins hands down, after driving to sydney to coastal route i was so mentally tired, so many speed changes and speed cameras designed to catch driver who slip up for 5 sec, the whole drive you are just on edge looking out for fixed cameras.
take the inland route, nice open roads and a very relaxing drive
