Rave for Collide-a-scope (Sydney)

I picked up my bike today (insurance repair) and am extremely happy with the service I got and thought I'd pass the word.

The place is called Collide-a-scope. They are located in Hornsby, so anyone north of Sydney might be interested. I only knew they did repairs, but when I went to their new premises for a quote, I found out they are also doing tyres, and have a Kawasaki mechanic in the shop for servicing. I've heard good things about this particular mechanic, and great things about the owner of Collide-a-scope. I haven't needed a mechanic yet, but as I've been looking for a place to get my servicing done (*really* unhappy with the other local place), I'll definitely be taking my baby there for her next service. I got a set of tyres put on, and also had the insurance repair done, and the service and results were excellent.

Very friendly, down-to-earth and casually low key service, which I prefer over no service, or service that is impersonal, or contrived. The owner, Lawrence, went above and beyond trying to make the process easy for me, and was very understanding and helpful in multiple ways. I am amazed at how low-stress they made the whole thing, especially in the beginning, when they received more than one frantic call from me when the insurance company was telling me the bike was to be written off - they acted as my advocate and helped get things sorted.

Just wanted to spread the word as a good workshop can be hard to find. I was very happy with the work (you should see how sexy my Two Brothers exhaust looks again!), and very happy with the service. I give them huge thanks, and would happily recommend them to anyone.

Great stuff Cath :D , Glad to hear your baby is finally home also glad to hear your cans are all fixed up

I can comment on the service side of things.
I had my 6k service done there, I know very basic one but had to get new tyres(supplied by me) done too, which I have to say a big thanks to Cath for the tyres.

Very low key servicing department, they don't advertise that they do bike services so don't expect the same kind of service as if you are going to like Aitken's, they are mainly a repairer but I'm very happy with the results. My bike was serviced, new tyres but on and I was charged for 2hrs labour with oil/parts and it came to under $300 so can't go wrong with that plus it is local :D

Plus they also do very good repairs after seeing B-Ry's bike all fixed up when I was there I couldn't even tell it had been smashed up.

haha Justin you beat me to it :) I have to concur, they did do an awesome job, and the service was good. I especially liked that they replaced my blu-ray sticker for me :) He also replaced my crash knobs (didn't think that was going to be covered).

All in all... A big +1 thumbs up from me too

They have also done my bike when it fell off its sidestand a few months ago.
Dumbest thing I have ever done: Bike parked on side of road up in the Snowy Mountains, a little downhill, not in gear, ground a little loose. I was waiting for my slower mates at the top of the climb to Cabramurra, just got off the bike and walking away from it when I hear the sound of it going down, turned around and there she was lying on her side :/
Fairing scratched pretty good, mirror and clutch lever broken but other than that and my ego nothing serious.
Back in Sydney the next day, called the insurance (Insure My Ride), they were excellent and told me not to worry that's what insurance is for, and organized for the bike to be collected the next day.
A few weeks later went to get my bike from the Collide-a-Scope shop, superb paintjob, they even replaced the Akrapovic sticker on the slip-on, and the centerstand (not sure why as it was working just fine).
Just falling off the stand worked out to be a 3 grands job, so I am glad I only had to pay for insurance excess.
Dont know whether they overdo insurance jobs or if they are very conscientious but either way I can't fault the result, the bike was like new when I got it back
