As some of you may/may not know, I was cleaned up by a cager 6-7 weeks ago.
To keep it brief, he doesn't have insurance but admitted fault so my insurance company will fix me up (should be by the end of next week but you know what insurance companies are like) and continue to chase up cager X (whose name, address, rego etc I cannot legally post here even though I want to).
I am all good now, but enough of that.
This thread is about helping me choose between 2 bikes.
I want a ZX10R.
I want one as soon as possible.
I have found 2 in the upper part of my price range, will be going to have a look at both of them and want to know:
a) What things you would be checking.
b) Which one you would go for.
c) Why you made your choice.
d) Any other information/opinions you want to share about them that may be of some use to me.

well mate i have owned all zx10r models and i have to say the current 08 i have is the best of the lot. the 05 was raw/fast , the 06 was smooth but not so quick, where the 08 is a good mixture of smooth/fast. im only talking stock mind you as you can make the 06 quick with a few mods.
getting back to your question , have you considered an 08 because your budget of 11-11.5k is only 2k short of a good 08. if you have a look at a current thread on here some members are looking at 08`s at 11k. if you dont want an 08 i would choose the 06 out of your 2 examples.

I've seen that thread but haven't found 08's on Bikepoint, Bikesales or Trading Post that cheap.
I could always spend an extra $x but I "should" set limits and these 2 bikes have everything done to them already.

do you like black? i dont , but if you do i would get the 06!

Sorry King Nicholas can't help on the which 10 is the best, although I have heard the 08 is pretty amazing. What I did want to say is I am sooooooooooooooo glad to hear your are fully mended and ok to ride again, was worried there for awhile that you wouldn't be able to ride again, so glad your ok mattie and on the hunt for your new girl, good luck with the hunt and can't wait to see your new baby.

Do you perfer one model over another or you simply just want to spend 11k ?

There is a guy local to me selling 08 with heaps of mods for 12k, so its not far off!

If you perfer the 04/05 to the 06/07, then you'll pick up some real bargains, i've seen many get as low at 7500 for 40,000k's few mods in tidy condition! So you can still get a great bike and save lots of money! I've seen quite a 06/07's go for as low at 9k also.

So i would say out of both of them, keep your money and keep looking. 11k is a good fair price, and they are worth that much, but the reality is there are also many other cheaper ones out there and if you wait you get one!

id get the black gumby if it were my cash, but both look the goods..

I'd go the 06 for the later model. I'd get the other one for the colour, I don't like black.

Ideally, I'd not get either, wait and get an 08 for a grand more or find a cheaper 06 in a better colour.

But I know fcuk all really, that's just how my opinion.

Btw, glad to hear you're ok after getting hit by a car. That's got to hurt.

Here's one for you but no mods done though, if there is no rush just keep looking around and you will find the right one.

out of either of those bikes, i would probably still get a 9!!!

but, ultimately, go with your gut...its rarely wrong

I'd look at something that already has all the mods you would do yourself (exhaust, PC, braided lines etc) and take your time and find exactly what you want

i'd rather the crim, they are more lively than the 06 model. the 06 has about 5more rear wheel HP than the 05 would. but you dont see that often on the road.

personally, i'd be trying to get an 09 ZX6r for the road.

oh and i;d go that 08 model over the other 2.

they are both over priced, should be under 10grand for them.
