Easy trailer ????
Now that we're toting two bikes to the track the old 7 x 4 box trailer is too small so I'm looking at alternatives.
Alternative 1. Upgrade to heavy duty 8 x 5 box trailer, downside is that it's big to store. I can't fit it at my place so I depend on my brother stashing it at his and his neighbours joint. The extra size will make this much harder.
Alternative 2. Easy trailer. These look good and I could pull it apart, fold it and store it up the side of the house. I presume their light so durability might be an issue. I contacted them this morning and they reckon they'll run up and down the highway all day at speed. Apparently an 8 x 4 (no sides) with two wheel locks at the front, a flat deck and tie points at the back to secure the rear wheels is the go.
Has anyone had any experience with Easy trailers either good or bad. They're about $1000 but with not much storage space left I don't have a real lot of alternatives.
Cheers

Re: Easy trailer ????
hi Glen,
I've had a 6x4 for about 18months. I got it for the same reasons as you are considering one.
Overall it's been good, though I would have to say, if I had room a regular box trailer would be much cheaper.
Took about a day to build, being a 6x4 I had to hang the wheel lock over the front so I needed a few additional bits & pieces from bunnings.
No trouble with the blue slip, the manufacturer is in the RTA databases, after it was assembled I just took it to the local garage and it was sorted in about 30min, the compliance plate is fixed to the A frame.
It obviously won't fold up with the sides or wheel locks in place so they need to be removed along with the sides if installed, then replaced at each use, roughly 20min for me. I got a marine ply deck on mine which in hindsight was a mistake, I will probably replace it with checker plate in the future as the ply is looking fairly second hand. When folded up you tip them up towards the hinged end where there is a frame with castors bolted in, they are not as light as you might think so I would not roll it anywhere steep on the castors.
It seems to tow quite well, no problems on the M2/M7 out to EC or OP, we've also had 1/2 ton of bark chips in it with no dramas.
Welcome to check mine out first if you like, we're at Chatswood, or at EC at the next track day.
Cheers
Matt

Re: Easy trailer ????
Follow up to Phone call Glen mate here are a few pics of mine.
I fitted the rails so the bikes centred so they sit slightly forward of the axle, not too far forward though. But as I said dont bother with their rails they are only for dirt bike tyres.
I have as I said taken this trailer and 2 road bikes up and down the Hume to Sydney and Canberra a few times and had no concerns at all doing long distances. Another who shall remain nameless borrowed it and did a Sydney trip as well although I don't know what he thought of it?

Re: Easy trailer ????
Neighbour has one and has carted some old tanks (yammy xs1100's) about the state for the last two years. Never heard a bad word about it at all. The only downside for is is he doesn't have any tunnels or chequerplate for tyres on there and it's just the base plywood that he has on there so he has just got the bikes tied down nice & tight.

Re: Easy trailer ????
A mate of mine bought one of these to cart his & his kids' bikes to the bush for trailrides & camping, when he got it I thought it looked really weak & flimsy & said I'd never put my bike on one.
I've since been proven wrong as it's done several thousand KMs (a lot of 'them on rough dirt roads) loaded with camping gear, his DRZ, a KTM 50 & a couple of those Thumpstar things & hasn't shown any signs of falling apart, he swears by it.

Awesome info guys. I think I'm going to order it. They say the 8 x 4 is the go for two bikes but I'm thinking an 8 x 5 might just give a little more room.
