I'm riding through Penrith this afternoon on my way home from Bathurst - coming along Parker St (Northern Rd) heading north. I'm coming up to the set of lights by the Nepean Hospital. As I'm pulling up I notice about 6 young guys (some with shirts off) walking along the footpath to my left.

I pull up at the lights and wait but keeping an eye in my mirrors when I see one of these little oxygen thieves run off the footpath towards me with a length of wood (could have been anything really) lining me up with a baseball swing - I see it coming and duck. He pulls out of it and walks back to the footpath where his mates are cheering him on. Lights change and I'm outta there faster than a nun's first curry.

What goes on in the minds of these little pricks??? Doesn't human feeling exist anymore?? "Oh look, a stranger - let's try to smack him up".

When I got home I thought I should have pulled up and taken my phone out to photograph them then ride to the police.

Seriously - there are enough jerks on the road now I have to watch pedestrians as well??

Not happy and rather shaken. Yeah I know...HTFU but seriously this has shaken me up.

Probably a good idea to ring the coppers anyway and let them know.... These slimebags might have followed on with someone else after you....

Coppers might do bugger all as no offence has been committed as such but worth the phone call I reckon just to give them the heads up.. clearly Melbourne isn't the only place having to deal with this sort of shit then.. and on his own I reckon my 81 yo Mum would probably take him out..

a helmet to the noggen would have done the trick I reakon.

Geez mate that sux, I know a hell of allot of people that might have stood their ground........ but I can imagine the possible outcome with 6 against 1, I think you did the right thing... don't let it get to you ........ the chances of it happening again would be pretty remote so let it go.

Thanks everyone - I called the police and gave them a description and location. They were sending a car to see if they could be located but all they can do is question them and ask about the intended weapon.

Just had a news break on 7, something there about an arrest of a gang with baseball bats or something, didn't quite catch the gory details but might be your boys Wayne..
